This is how literally all MMOs work. New content gets introduced, older content gets nerfed. Welcome to the magical world of MMOs.

This is not true. Beyond that, the addition of new content often makes that kind of thing unnecessary. Difficulty of old content is left alone because people get all kinds of new gear/tools/jobs to deal with it, so it ends up getting "nerfed" effectively because of that. This kind of gimping is just not necessary. I'm not necessarily against it, but you can't just play it off like every company does this.
Exactly. But this way of thinking is put up by the community and every sheep just follows... i90+ will already result in a more smooth run through turn 1-5, why nerf it even more? (Did you know people also complain about the difficulty of HM dungeons? Just wow..)
We all know that companies often nerf/adjust old content since it's not that relevant anymore. In this case, it being the bridge to turn 6 and up, I find it rather disappointing they chose for the nerfing option since it could still add a lot to the game.
I'm all for making a game more appealing. If this is what the larger crowd wants, let them have it. I think SE does a good job feeding both "casual gamers" and the ones (like me) who like a bit of a challenge.
On another note. Does anyone know if looting will be restricted to one item per turn 1-5 (per week)? If not, what's the point of i80 gear?

Just because you and a select few groups find the content easy doesn't mean everyone does. Despite all the video tutorials on the internet and word of mouth, people are going to have a hard time on matter what. Just remember, if most people can't access later content for a while, then there's no reason for them to keep playing and they'll cancel their subscriptions, and that will make Square's profits shrink.Exactly.
