It's things like this that sometimes make me feel that perhaps it would have been best to take FFXIV back into closed development so it's not under public scrutiny. Keep a test server up for those who want to continue playing since we're basically beta testers right now. For those who don't, refund their Crysta and compensate them with a free game or something.

Not posting to be negative. Just always important to see how gamers review your game. And in this review, the verdict was that it wasn't even on par with F2P games. Why shouldn't they see it this way? Right now, everyone views FFXIV as a game in release state, simply because it's been released and available for purchase.

That's also why everyone on the forums is frustrated, anxious, and tired of waiting.

Perhaps patch 1.18 and this summer's updates will be this game's saving grace. But if not, perhaps it's time to get this game out from under the microscope?

As much as it sucks, I don't think there's any hope for XIV anymore either. You just can't recover from something like this. Closed development, open development, it just makes no difference anymore

I had the same reaction as those guys when I saw the auto-attack video. This is what everyone is getting so excited for? Really? 9 months in and this is where we are at? If my sig is any indication of how badly I wanted this game to succeed, it's true, I really did. But it's just so obvious it can't.

I want seeking for group flag. There are very no reason to force ppl spenting 2-3 hours to form a group or go solo and suffer from terrible SP.

I have been slowly thinking this myself. With each release, the forums just get worse and worse. At least if the game went into official beta, maybe some of the critism would die down.

There are some people that they will never please, and they manage to be loud enough to make the rest of us miserable. They should have more than enough feedback by now to make all the fundamental changes they need, so there's no point in dragging SE's name through the mud any further than was necessary.

I don't know if it's the right thing to do or not, but if 1.18 fails to impress, I really think they should consider it.

I like it.

We are in beta, everyone knows it, so SE should just make it official. It would stop the slow bleed of players and the increasing DOOM cycle. Players who remain as beta players would have a clear mission and perspective on the game. This would translate into better attitudes and those plaeyrs would be helping to actually improve the game rather than just whining about everything.

Also, the clean break would really allow this game to have a fresh start. Currently, with the slow trickle of improvements, it will be hard to convince players that there is a point at which we should be paying monthly fees.

Release them all at once and you have a big event and a real marketing opportunity.

These forums are a battlefield fueled by a mixture of emotions right now (with negativity slowly winning out). The only way to really remove yourself from it is to take this mindset that the game is in open beta. Problem is, that's not the official status.
