Commendations for Crafters!

I do not know if this has been suggested yet!

But a Crafter of doom from my Free company (FC) has come up with this idea.

Abstract
There may be some players that feel they do not have the chance to get enough commendations from others players. There also may be players that do no participate in dungeons and enjoy this game solely for crafting. This idea is meant to include those players into the Commendation system.

Idea

• After a player completes a craft for a different player that "Requests Meld" the requesting player will be given the choice to commend the crafter.

Pros

• More incentive to make crafts for other players and melds.
• More ways to make commendations for all players.
• This can be used to "sell" commendations to other players [ There are positives and negatives to this "Commendation sale"]

Cons

• This can be abused easily to achieve the commendations achievements.
• This can be used to "sell" commendations to other players, - Side Note - Some players might scam others out of gil but since commendations are unlimited per day, this is unlikely

Now to counteract the abuse of this commendation system, there should be a second commendation system implemented that is for crafters only. With its own requirements and achievement rewards.

But ultimately I hope there are different ways to obtain commendations for all classes including crafters and gatherers.

Thing with the commendations is that you need to not be in a group in order to give them... You need to roll the dungeon solo... So if I group up with 2 people then we cant give out commendations because we ran it together and it wasn't random... That's how SE makes it fair so people cant hand them out to buddy's... If you did a crafting commendation they would need to find a way to make it fair and not be abused by a buddy or bot system... If someone comes there and requests a meld this could be abused horribly...

I like the idea. Make it so you can click a box in the request to give a commendation.

There are many ways to "cheat" this system as well joining alone while selecting only a specific language with three other friends doing the same thing at the same time will almost always result in you all being paired together to commend each other easily. If you group up together you cant commend this is correct however
there can be limits placed on how many "Request meld commends" players are allowed, and also only if the meld is successful will the option appear.

But what is unfair is the players that primarily focus on crafting which this game does allow you to do, have no way of getting player commendations for achievements which are suppose to be accessible for all players

I forgot to mention there is always the option of limiting how many times per month a player can commend any given player, when it comes to crafters commends.
This limit can be set to once a week, or once a month, or however the design team sees fit.

I personally do not think melding is the way to go with this. Given how easy melding is and how accessible it is, it doesn't feel like something that deserves rewards - we have tips for that.

Rather, I'd like to see a Request Craft interface, similar to Request Meld, where you can submit your materials, see the progress/quality bars, and watch as the crafter makes your items. I think that by watching the craft and HQ progress, the requester will feel it was a job worth commending for, and by virtue of having more "work" involved, the crafter will also feel deserving of a commendation.

That's basically what I said. Although instead of a checkbox, I think the current system of commending is fine (where it pops up and asks if you want to commend). That way, you decide whether to commend or not at the end of the synthesis and not the beginning, since I don't think you'd want to commend someone who fails your craft or NQs it (unless you explicitly state you're ok with NQ).

Cynicism aside, I think it'd be a good idea so that crafters can get in on commendations as well, but like you, I feel it might be easy to abuse, unless there was a cap (maybe daily) on how many comms you can give or receive from the same person.

Yes a daily cap would be a great way to prevent abuse of the commends system. And like someone else mentioned a "request craft" option should be created so players can request other things besides melds and then the crafting players can choose to do so.
