Any word on auto-hiding chat box?

Everywhere I read suggestions, it seems like I am not alone in wanting two things regarding the chat box.

1) Auto-hide chatbox.
2) Transparency.

I've searched but couldn't find a single official response.

Just wondering if there is one.

I'd say auto-hide is the very very very first thing I noticed this game lacked when starting out on day 1.

i would love to see an auto-hide feature for the chat log.

some people i imagine would enjoy being able to see more of the actual game. but i personally would love to see auto-hide to help against image retention on plasma displays.


also the auto-hide feature will need triggers. it needs a list of configurable triggers. triggers that will tell the chat box to show itself when a message is received in the specified channel(s). much how the sound notifications work, it would have to be configurable like how that is.

yes, but you may not want it to appear for EVERY new entry. maybe you only want to appear when something is said in the Free Company channel?

so yes, it should auto-hide after a set period of time. maybe user configurable. but it should also have configurable triggers that determine when it should pop back out. again much like how sound notifications are configured. it would need to be something like that.

I too would like to see chat auto hide after a set amount of time.

I'd also like the cross hot bar to auto hide after about 1 min of not using it. I know you can make it so the cross hotbar will only show up when you are about to execute an action but I don't have all my cross hotbars memorized and still need them to be displayed when I'm in battle. But when I'm just chatting with friends or looking stuff up on the markets, the cross hotbar is just clutter on my screen.

1.0 had this option so they know how to do it, it's just a matter of if they are going to implement it. I would love this feature back as it cleans up the screen when nothing is going on.

Please add a auto hide chat log setting in the UI.

also, it would be nice to see opacity options for the rest of our HUD elements... would be nice to play the game for more then a couple hours per day. >_>
