Freelancer class for Vanity Purposes PLEASE SE!

A class that can equip any & all armor (possibly any weapon too but I know that would require special tech so for now that'll be considered a "bonus"; perhaps give it a unique soul item that permits weapons of any kind be equipped).

This would be -strictly- for Vanity purposes. The class would have no special abilities of its own.

Perhaps make it so you're required to unlock the Freelancer, acting as sort of an achievement... a possibility could be that you need 15/30 of every base-class or every job unlocked.

This would be so much fun & unlock so many fun looks for 'around town'.

I got the perfect Class for this!

It would be a Disciple of the Land, and it would be a Hunter. It would get additional drops from monsters, cannot enter dungeons and would be used for farming pelts/skins/bones Monster drop items. It could Equip all armors or weapons to keep up with monster Difficulty and have it's own unique set of skills (much like mining and botany).

Since it is a Disciple of the land you would not have to worry about it being in Fates or PvP balancing or Balancing group play (since disciples of the land tend to do solo). Thoughts?

I would rather a wardrobe system implemented without armor type restrictions than some new class.

You realize this' effectively the exact same thing right?

It's a method of them implementing a wardrobe system without having to create any new game-tech.

It's not, as I can't do anything else in the game if it's a separate class except... hang around.

The purpose of a Vanity system is to allow your players to look how they want to look while doing content. Guild Wars 2 tried to pull a similar thing with their 'city clothes' and, to no one's surprise, nobody bothers with them. A 'Freelance' class like described would suffer the same fate.

It's not effectively the same thing at all. Your idea means you can look however you want only in town, whereas a wardrobe system let's you look how you want WHILE playing a class you want to play.

Sounds like a thief class to me. Bonus drop rates when in parties and steal/mug skills.

Oh okay... well I understand now.

Well I think a wardrobe system is pretty dumb in comparison... I don't mean offense by this, but it would kill any sort of 'fantasy realism'/immersion.

For instance, a tank wearing cloth robes or a mage wearing hulking plate armor that still is squishy as sheit.

That would be entirely impractical... I get the purpose is the same, but the idea with freelance isn't so you can take it into duties/trials for the above reasons listed.

@Zedine mentioned, perhaps giving it 'some' function other than simply to frolic around town would be beneficial... I just don't think a "wardrobe" system is the answer.

I think vanity for the sake of combat is good IF it is within the confines of your class/job's armor-class... which' how it sounds they plan to implement it (in favor).

My suggestion has to do with the option of enabling the ability to equip/wear anything you like but strictly out of combat.
