Did you read any posts in the thread before posting?Once again it's a vocal minority that is complaining about XIV. It's not like XI enough? Too bad so sad. XI is bad outdated MMO game design. There's a reason nobody makes grindfest questless directionless MMOs like XI anymore. If that's the kind of dying game you want to play, you're free to go back to playing XI.
Stop complaining that XIV is too much like WoW and other modern MMOs. It's a winning formula and if you get bored of it, that's your own problem. There are millions of other gamers out there who don't mind it.
lol wow. I can't even believe this post. So narrow minded. Winning formula? Since when? How many MMO's started with a paid subscription fee only to die within a year and go free to play? Winning formula for who? The ones who want to play the games for free? Right on tiger....Once again it's a vocal minority that is complaining about XIV. It's not like XI enough? Too bad so sad. Haha, oh wow. It's a winning formula for money only; and that won't last long because it isn't a winning formula for fun and long term longevity. Once all the reasonable people move on and subs drop like crazy maybe they'll consider taking some risks, or they'll continue in the same direction and XIV will eventually be put to rest.Once again it's a vocal minority that is complaining about XIV. Yeah it's the winning formula...for one game that is way past its prime.Once again it's a vocal minority that is complaining about XIV. It's not like XI enough? Too bad so sad. Was there any game that didn't close/go f2p copying WoW?Once again it's a vocal minority that is complaining about XIV. It's not like XI enough? Too bad so sad. XI is bad outdated MMO game design. Even WoW is declining, so why would you want to copy a formula where the guys who INVENTED it are losing subs?

Yep, even the once-mighty XIV has gone that way as well. Good job Matsui...
God forbid devs make content that's worth doing for more than just gear that's not going to last anyway.
This is the kind of nonsense I hate and I make no apologies. Back in XI's hay day there were countless players who had everything there was to get in Sky or w/e event you wanted to do, and they STILL did it - to be social and have fun with friends. It helped that the devs purposely didn't release new gear to obsolete older gear so that players would always want to at least try older content. XI lasted a solid 7+ years with a healthy 500k subs because of this, in spite of its many, many, many flaws.
I have no delusions about the game, it had a lot of problems and was absolutely entirely too hard in some respects. But it was also fun and engaging and was purpose designed to foster a healthy & collaborative community. Crafting sucked. Losing EXP on death sucked. Partying was a mixed bag because while EXPing itself in groups was fun, getting that party set and the long grind were a pain (it wasn't the partying itself just the mechanisms involved). But we stuck through it because Vana'diel was a genuinely intriguing world teeming with lore and endless content. The graphics were actually pretty darned good too for what was a fairly early PS2 game.
I see a lot of things wrong with the game that turned me off(played for about 2 months and gave up ..I think I have a couple more days left on my free trial):
The following were my issues:
a) Zero discourse with players. It's almost as if game was created in a vacuum based on ideas of developers and not the community.
b) Copying another game/s that people are losing interest in as it is
c) Bad coding: I won't even go into this. The amount of stupid sh1t in this game is mind-numbing. Can't whisper in dungeons, you literally can't do two things at once when it comes to browsing stuff in the game. HORRIBLE POS.
d) Lack of any community game-play. You can literally play the game solo till the very end. First time you have to do something as a group is chimera/hydra.

e) F'd up storyline. While trying to save the world, 90% of the time you are running some reject's random nonsense thrash quests. Get me x # of this and kill y # of this. GARBAGE
f) BORING SHALLOW mechanics. THE ONLY thing you do in this game while leveling is dodge shit. As a tank, sometimes you even skip that(bad habit but I see a lot of tanks do it). Then suddenly the game morphs. Now you are at end game and you miss one simple mechanic and it's a wipe. Most players don't really learn shit through leveling, then they hit Titan HM and become a burden on the whole damn group.
g) In game economy is garbage.
h) Housing...Really, do I need to go into this.
i) PVP - What PVP?
I think overall this is a result of a)hasty planning b)no discourse with community c) arrogance and d) trying to make a game on that "successful" formula that is already boring the living sh1t out of the players in that game.
Disclaimer: All these are my personal opinions.

Oh I forgot one thing...the so called living world.
10 fukkin' dodo killing events and dragons zapping the ground with lightning is NOT a living world.
There is nothing random about fates, same location, same frequency, no incentive for higher level players to get involved does not encourage fate participation.
I'm remember rift random events. They gave crafting materials and sometimes other things like mounts if you got lucky. I mean...atleast they were more random than this. This is static, don't call it random please.
