I hate most mechanics of this game's bosses. They are unbalanced towards healers and tanks, punishing (one wrong move = die + weakness debuff which will inevitably lead to a wipe thanks to low damage), action oriented (on a game whose netcode can't handle it), and uncreative.

I'm finding myself getting more and more stressed over this game's battle content if I'm not playing with friends. They pratically encourage the "toxic behaviour" many talks of. Also the typical "experienced" (which actually means "don't fart on the wrong time so you don't wipe us").

It's like I'm walking on a tight rope and when I finish it, I feel relief instead of happiness.

I obviously can't tell if people are leaving because of this, but trying to target this game to casual audiences, then making bosses whose solution to any problem is "that person died", obviously won't go well.

Honestly, the only problem with Yoshida's view is how afraid he is from RMT. Botters gonna bot regardless, don't make the game bland because of it.

Some people like crafting, some like grinding, some like camping for bosses... but everyone is forced into dungeon-crawling. Over and over.

Yup I pretty much only do content mainly with friends since a majority of the time if you don't know a fight 100 percent or if you goof up, you get players that cry and rage. Even then end game content is uncreative and just the same ol' unforgiving rotation and phase style.

I had one guy in Titan hm today that was spamming me with Esuna macros when I was raising a healer who died and getting ready to heal MB on a lower geared tank. Then he left the party along with his buddy. This type of stuff happens way too frequent.

Nothing went wrong, the problem are these forums.. people constantly stay on here and read nothing but negative comments about the game which in-turn, drags everyone's emotions down and they too, start hating the game.

What is the #1 reason people go to forums? to complain.

When you keep coming here to see complaint after complaint, over the dumbest things possible.. you slowly but surely start agreeing with most of the whingers. Take a step back and realize what you're getting yourself into and stay away from these forums as much as you can, you will find yourself enjoying the game a lot more.

Like I said, nothing "went wrong" if your friends are quitting, move on, find other friends.

I haven't noticed a single decline on my server, in fact I'm noticing more and more people online these days.

I find the this post and replies actually funny. FFXIV:ARR is not the first version of this game. In fact SE defied conventionally wisdom and launched a game the minority say they want, a sandbox. It bombed badly. The reality is SE tried it your way and it didn't work.
Actually they didn't do a sandbox game in 1.0! 1.0 was rushed onto the market by SE Investors! 1.0 was still in an Alpha stage.

Can you play final fantasy 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9 etc forvever? No. This is the same for an mmo. Once you're bored of it, you move on. People shouldn't expect endless fun playing 12 hours a day. It will get boring eventually, like every game ever made. Sure you might pop into it every now and then, but don't expect to live here.

I myself find the game done really well, and having played all the FF's I think this game does a great justice to the series, it feels like a mesh of 1,4,6,7,tactics and 12, at least for me. Love it. But yeah, I won't play it forever because well, just can't.

Nobody in this game can expect to make millions from sales, and this is because how SE made it for now. Here are my points.

    - Why the hell we cant trade Primal Weapons. Instead of making the primals easier every patch keep them at same lvl and allow us to trade them, they will be rare hard to get and indeed will cost you millions to buy them.

    - Why we cant trade the armors from dn. People have hard time to get the entire sets and a lot of them will pay for surtain pieces. Again stupid decision from SE.

    - I dont know by you in your server but this 12k sale you speak of is fairy tale story by me.... most expencive items go from 1k-3k and the prices go dowen by every day. Not to mention nobody buys. And when you put something for sale after 1h you will see that 20 more people have put it but for a lot cheaper then you.

    - SE put more NPCs from witch people will buy matirials crafted and gathering once, armors people dont buy them, because they can get them from npc too.

    - Be for patch 2.1 the markets maybe were bad but now simply we dont have eany. So good luck making money, and if you think is ok to sell your crafted matirials witch you spend hours to gather and make them, for like 80-40 gills i would say simply wow. Ive playied enough MMOs and i really like crafting and i can tell you such economy like in FF14 in no other game exists, simply because in FF14 there is no economy, and all this is because of SE decisions.

    About the FC Housing.

    - We never looked at it as personal one. We spend months of getting gill for the Houses we developed our crafted classes gahtered matirals etc. for the patch 2.1.

    - And what happned, they destroied the market the one thing from witch we had stady income and put Imposable prices for housing. And all this why.... because they cant deal with RMT and the demand of fro the content in their OWN game, in their OWN game !!!!!!

    - We never expected to get the midium or high wealth houses from day one. Simply because we are small company and we are casual palyers, and we dont have 12h day to play the game.

    - But when your income comes only from grinding same dns every day, in witch you will get trolled or kicked or you have to wait like me 1h30min to go in, tell me how meany people can you ask to do this and then give the money for the housing, how meany of them will do it and have fun.....almsot 0 !

    - And yeah i know treasure hunting then again is same story as the dn.

And about the voting actualy is SE to be blamed

    1. Because they didnt set rules for the voting and didnt put them on the webside.

    2. SE didnt ask the players , where we could vote if we want it or not. I can tell you a lot a lot of players were against the system, because they knew it would be abused a lot.

I'll speak for myself. People don't seem to remain interested unless there's a ton of content, which isn't going to come anytime soon given the relative age of the game. The unhappiest of the bunch are the FFXI players and those who go out of their way to demonize modern design (like the people who can't wrap their brains around why lockouts work the way they do).

That said, I've managed to pace myself in such a way that I still have stuff to do (PLD is still my only 50, slowly leveling alt classes, still haven't done EM/coil--out of lack of interest in EM and coil, no crafting classes to 50 nor gathering classes). Hell, one of the friends I brought to this game just managed to get to the point where he can run AK and WP. This is someone who signed up at launch, mind you.

Also keep in mind some people will drop off and return for patches, while others stay for the long haul. This would still be true even if we had four 24-man raids instead of just Coil and CT.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
    * Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

2-3 months ago: "Yeah I'm a hardcore player I log in once a week for about an hour to do turn 1-5"
Now: "Yeah I'm a casual player I log in once a week for about an hour to do turn 1-5"

Thank you based Yoshi for turning everyone into a casual in the end. Grats on finally catching upto the curve though.

The source of all problems is that we have people playing a game they do not enjoy.

It is a fact that if the game play is not fun enough for you to do dungeons after you hit your reward cap, then you are not playing for fun but playing for the sake of playing and complaining for the sake of complaining.

Also imagine if they "fix" the crafting economy. Suddenly these people will "enjoy" farming all day and kill the same monsters over and over for months. But right now that they are not forced to do it, they won't do it because it is boring.

In summary, FFXIV is boring so it has to fixed so we are forced to be bored instead of choose to be bored, because we won't choose it.

I remember back when games were released with a lvl cap of eg: 30 then 6 months later raised to 50 then 6 months later raised to 75 and so on. If that was done these days all the min/maxers would have a fit at having to do it all over again. I remember grinding on the same mob on the same map for 18 months waiting for a game to raise the lvl cap and I played avg 16 hours a day 7 days a week. I was never bored there was always friends and guildies wafting through during the day. Then of course there were the people who wanted to steal my map who would come and it would start an all out war. Guildies and friends would be called and it would be hours of fun and laughter as we worked together to chase off the baddies.

Those games were constantly releasing updates etc so there was always different stuff to do. I was a hardcore 16 hour a day 7 days a week player on that for over four years. Sadly when they finally upped the lvl cap on that game it screwed over the direction my char was going in and I quit. My next game it would take weeks to gain a lvl and I never considered it a grind I would wander the world and meet and party up with random people and we never cried about *PUG* parties. People who played the game casually lvled at the same pace as I did because of the social aspect of the game, chilling out in the market area was a big thing

These days you don't take weeks to gain one lvl you take a week to get to max lvl, the fact it can be achieved so fast shows that there just isnt the same content in games as there used to be. FFXIV is a great game and it really does have loads of potential .... BUT FOR ME.... the grind of doing exactly the same material over and over to get 2nd, 3rd and 4th jobs to lvl 50 just isn't going to happen. Even if each class had its own quests not just limit the quests to the three starting areas it would help.

There is *NO SOCIAL* in the game, Fates you rarely speak to anyone, because of the no whispers in dungeons you often cant talk to friends, dungeons have become *speed trials* so you certainly cant chat in there. Now I believe we will see the game get even less social because the housing is instanced and each house is going to be able to have its own vendor and banker etc. I understand the guild housing is a little more social, but, still it will eliminate a lot of player interaction on the open maps, plus as I don't own the guild I'm not to keen on investing major gold which is very hard to make in something that doesn't belong to me.
