Have to wait too long for a group

With the introduction to Party Finder, it has become much easier to find a group with your own goals, But that's if you can find players...

Don't know if my server has a low population, so keep that in mind....

In the morning or in the middle of day, it's almost impossible to find players using PF. At least higher ilvl content. So even if I'm able to play during these periods, I have to wait until the evening to do the content that really matters for me. The thing is, that even if it's evening, and a lot more players are online, it's still very hard to find players using PF.

DF might work for some content, but not for Extreme primals (the content I need to do right now), and using PF it takes like 1 and a half hours to find a group. Then most of the time, the group fails and everyone leaves Which means, I have wasted up to 2 hours for nothing.

After wasting all that time, I sometimes just leave the game for the day. Not only cause I don't want to wait anymore, but also because I might not have more time....

Because of this, I have run Garuda Extreme mode 25 times or so, but only beaten her once. That's from the last 2 weeks, and I'm usually unlucky with drops, so who knows when I will get my ring...

Would like to know if this is affecting others to the same extent.

I would also like to hear your opinions about Cross Server Party Finder With something like this, maybe it won't take the whole evening finding one group....

I'm on Balmung and I can't say I've had the same problem. You're server appears to have more people on it so I dunno. Honestly though it sounds like you're having problems getting things done off peak hours, and that makes complete sense. If 80% or more of the player base doesn't login till 6pm or so then you are going to have problems regardless of what server you are on. As for losing Garuda 25 times all I can say is that this type of stuff happens. Every group isn't created equal and some groups are better than others. It's entirely possible you just haven't achieved a winning combination yet with the right kind of players. Maybe raise the iLvl requirement that you normally use?

Two hours? I don't mean to sound rude (and if I come across that way, I'm really sorry), but that's nothing to what I had to put up with in FFXI - there were plenty of times I wasted entire nights of fruitlessly waiting for an exp party invite which never came (as in, I spent six to eight hours sitting in Rabao with my party flag up to no avail, and as WHM too to boot - this was in 2006 by the way, long before the recent changes that make levelling easier).

It's that kind of situation where I'm glad FFXIV allows solo-levelling and automatic grouping via the Duty Finder and Party Finder. It's unfortunate you're having this problem, but patience is the key. Also are you only limiting yourself to English-speaking players? I find I often have to set the Duty Finder to all languages to actually get a party most of the times, something that doesn't worry me at all, but then I play on a JP server anyway so it's familiar territory for me.

It may just be that you're on a low population server. It's probably too early, but I imagine SE is looking at world populations and is likely planning on a merge at some point.

As for cross server party finder, I'm not a programmer/cs whiz so what follows is pure speculation based on my primitive understanding of the internet but:
Duty Finder works cross server because instances are not server specific
However, character data (names, jobs, etc.) is server specific. A cross-server PT finder would require a server to look at ALL the other servers at once. It would be a great feature and would be amazing to have people from all different servers in a party, but um memory limitations perhaps? I unno. again, not a programmer. For all I know, this is entirely possible and SE should look into it.

I have been able to do content at off peak hours in other MMO's... If there is enough players on the server, you will find people that for some reason plays during off peak hours.

That being said, I mean during peak hours too... Yesterday I sat 1 and a half hour just waiting for 2 tanks. Then people starting leaving, and it never happened.

EDIT: Also, I'm not ranting about only being able to beat it once over 25 tries What I was getting at, was that I only could do 25 runs over 2 whole weeks (including some DF tries)

Can't really compare this to a 10 year old game With a system like PF, it's all about how many players is online. DF is very quick, because it's players from several servers.

Yeah... I hope they do a server merge at some point...

It would still be much faster with cross server Party Finder though... and I know it would be hard for them to do something like that, but it could probably be done. It would be the same system that they use with DF right now, in other words, only players from a couple of other servers (server group)

Anyways... it doesn't matter how many players are on my server, it still stands that finding a party for some content is taking too long on my server. I can start a PF for Garuda Extreme mode during peak hour, then 40 mins later I have found all dps (fast) and maybe 2 healers, but I'm missing the tanks (that's the most usual scenario). Then you have to include the risk of players leaving before we find all players... and it's not uncommon for everyone to give up during the wait, so I have to start over....

Yup, sounds like it's your time of play that's the issue, not the server pop.

Tanks don't really need Ex Primals for gear, so their is that. The Axe is sick however. Mostly though, a lot of us prefer our statics or just generally stay with people we know.

I've done two DR and 0 PF. Why? Less hassle. Some of the least played jobs and we can be picky on our groups.
