Do you respect or awed by level 50? No?

    Neither do I.
Bring back the respect from new players to players at max levels by these easy steps:

    1. When level cap is increased, bring back Maat fight system.
This means putting each player in a solo battle against Maat. Make this fight super hard, only 50% of players succeeds. This way, not everyone will be level 60 & you know those who made it are high in skills.

    2. Introduce hard monsters in low level areas.
This way, sometimes low level players will require the help of high level to clear the way. For example suddenly an NM attacks a town. This will bring awe to high level players.
Remember bogy in qufim in FFXI.

    3. Introduce unique skills like Raise 3 for those high levels.
Although not applicable in FF14, something unique or cool looking magic will inspire awe to the low level ppl.

    4. Make high levels glow with useful auras.
Level 60 can walk around with a shiny aura that will dispel certain effects, or increased protection by administering Protect 5.

    No.

If this is what you want, this game is clearly not designed for you.

Go to Kickstarter and find a niche sandbox 1998-era MMO to grind away your life on.

How do you know what the game is designed for? You are not the DEV. FC housing was the first nail in the coffin for people like you. There is more to come that will destroy your hopes of it being casual forever. I run through the low-lvl zone to do relic quests, and there is no one that gives a crap about high-levels because there is no danger in the open-world. Don't understand all this nonsense about grinding when that's not even what we are talking about.

And to address further opinions about this matter, have you guys seen the anime .hack //sign, Sword Art Online, Log Horizon, etc... All of them are about MMO worlds where the high-level characters were sought after and respected the most. Just more evidence that FFXIV ARR is kind of going against the trend. High levels are supposed to be adored and respected, but there is honestly no reason to bat an eye at them in ARR. The only achievement worth bragging about is Coil Allagan weapon, and that is really not enough because it is something really anyone could do within a couple weeks. FFXI, you would be head over heels for someone who had 75, and especially a 75 with a relic. WoW, 60 in vanilla wow was pretty admirable. PSO (Phantasy Star Online) lvl 200 was awesome. Don't know why you guys are proposing to flatten the hierachy when that is what keeps people playing. FFXIV ARR lvl 50... BORING, not even going to examine you. You will see, the market will return back to its ROOTS. ARR is only a branch of a tree that will wither away in due time if it doesn't start embracing its roots.

What I like about these games are the raid bosses, the difficult and challenging encounters that take a while to clear. I like fighting the tough monsters, wiping dozens of times, talking strategy with my group, getting frustrated a bit, and that incredible rush when half your raid is dead and you've got one tank left and the healer's out of MP and your monk pulls out the level 3 limit break and holycrapthatwastense!

I don't give a flying rat's patooie if people "respect" or "adore" me.

I don't want to brag. I don't brag about what I do (well maybe I do a little, to my FC, jokingly). I want to have fun fighting absolutely ridiculous monsters with my friends.

You... people... who crave the adulation and worship of others... seriously there's something wrong with ya'll. I recommend therapy.

I do need therapy probably. MMOs aren't exactly a normal hobby if you think about it because we are willing to jump into another world and achieve things that have no impact on our real lives. Anyhow, I play for those reasons as well, for the adrenaline rush. I just feel it is more realistic when not everyone can achieve something. That is how the world real works. That is why we have bums walking around on the streets. Even if it is a game, people play it for those reasons to escape their normal lives and not just to become a tactician in a game. If the real world was like ARR, everyone would be happy in the sense that their basic needs are covered, but that is not the case. If you don't agree with it, I understand now.

I don't care to be respected or admired for being level 50. But respected for my deeds in the game. Like helping others or something. But that is just my opinion.

There is no boss in this game that is hard to beat. Then only hard fight is Titan and that is only because of lag, every fight you don't even need to think to win. That is not fun to me. Not one fight so far has made me go " oh god that was a dozy".

It's borderline insulting actually that people consider this hard. Dark Souls is hard.

This is why people don't go, oh that guy is so cool. He beat that and got that sword or whatever.

It is just a matter of memorization. Ifrit Ex, turn 2 are the only fight that do not feel scripted (Ifrit EX only because the breaths are random on tanks, and turn 2 because of random Red circle pattern and high voltage). The other fights are just memorization and don't really require much improvising once you have created a strategy. Every boss uses the same moves at the same exact time every time. It is just aimed at a different person and that is the only random factor. Titan will always use weight at the exact same time every time. If they used the TP system from FFXI for monsters, there would be a lot more randomness in the fights and a lot more strategy and thinking would be required. You ony memorize the phases where moveset of the bosses change, but the rest is random in FFXI.

FFXIV ARR boss moves most of the time are completely ordered and never changes because the monsters do not rely on TP or hits from melee to gain TP to use moves. They will always use the moves in a specific order no matter what, which is kind of sad.

The funny thing here is that I'm pretty sure that the percentage of players that bought Dark Souls and beat the game is likely considerably higher than the percentage of active ARR players that beat Twintania.
