Ranged = safe. Melee = extra damage/death for healers to worry about. Solution (IMHO) = form all melee party (just to spite the ranged), bring one less DD and one more healer, define your roles and hash out the details of who can/will do and stay consistent with your effort.

Biggest issue here is the "watch the video to learn" mentality of the community as a whole. People see the "easiest" strategy so they think its the only strategy. They see a party setup and try to emulate that party to achieve that success. Learn to work with what you have and make changes to your strategy rather than to the party composition. I hate to use movie lines but "Improvise, adapt, overcome". That's why people bitch about content so much. They keep doing the same thing ALL the time. Seize the opportunity to add new strategies to your knowledge pool.
