Hi,
As we all know, EU players have to connect to European Data Center located in Canada.
If I were to guess, a true EU data center for EU player won't be coming any soon (maybe never).
Many a player tho, if they want to continue playing the game beyond 1->50 storyline face extreme lag problems. Titan Hard (and now Extreme) are a glaring example of this -you are expected to dodge mechanics within 0.5-1s precision, and there is no pardon if you die (even if raised, you will just die soon from incoming AoE). Many players resort to using VPN (Virtual Private Network) software so that their connection gets carried through more stable internet nodes (or VPN data encryption stops ISPs from throttling the game data).

If SE can't afford to set up an EU data center in Europe, how about setting up a VPN gateway servers (let's say in UK, France and Germany at least?) so that FFXIV players connect to those servers and get tunnelled into Canada in exactly the same way as Pingzapper, W*Fast etc do for a price? VPN gateway is cheaper and easier to maintain than a full blown data center, and in many instances would greatly improve player experience.
