Disappointments and regrets of FFXIV

I suppose it's a delayed disappointment - the PS3. I love that they made this game for the system; I probably would not have purchased the game if they hadn't made it for PS3. Until I hit 50, I could leave all spell/graphics effects on max. I loved playing the game. After 50? I play without being able to see what I'm casting or what anyone else is doing. I have to memorize fights or read everyone's casting bar constantly to understand what's going on in correlation to what I'm doing or go tunnel vision on the boss/adds. How many PS3 players are able to play with all the settings cranked to the max? The fear that someone figures out I'm playing on PS3 and kicks me out of the instance or ragequits. Also lag (perhaps not entirely SE's fault, I don't want to get into it here as I've more than talked about it on other threads) after 2.1. I don't want to play this game on the PC; I'm not a PC gamer and I probably never will be.

Which you should instead spend on "A life". You know spending little amounts of time dabbling in various pursuits and giving a halfhearted effort on all of them.

People need to take out their nostalgia goggles from FFXI and to be realistic, FFXI had a lot of complaints on early times even for when FFXI came out in the US, it was really rough in the edges. The FFXI mechanics no longer work on these days, this is what happened with FFXIV 1.0 and it's why it failed ignoring the fact that the engine was slow, sluggish and totally unintuitive not user friendly at all, which if you look back FFXI was about the same too, the difference being that people has tasted better now, and they want better than the last. I have played a lot of MMO's over the years besides FFXI and FFXIV has done a fantastic job, it actually has managed to keep me to pay more than one subscription, as most MMO's could not hold my interest enough to pay after the 30 day trial.

The Pacing of the game is fine, you know, for a regular adult, I'm not a child anymore nor have the time to play as I did back when I was younger, nor I'd think I'd have the patience to do everything the people is saying they wish here.

Get over yourself and stop with the nostalgia This is FFXIV not FFXI-2.

I was in the same boat upon reaching 50. The PS3 certainly struggles. I ended up going into the menu and disabling most of the battle effects and other non-essentials. It helps out a ton. I can't wait for the Ps4 version. It will be nice to see everything again...lol

What I was saying is that I DID disable all of the battle effects and non essentials. That helped until the never ending lag of post 2.1 surfaced (I've been in troubleshooting mode for over a month now). Perhaps, when PS4 has a stronger lineup of other games, is proven to be a system that can run this game on at least moderate graphic settings, an expansion comes out, and latency issues are a thing of the past I'll resub.

People always speaking of XI doesnt mean they want FFXIV to be FFXI-2, often its their only point of comparison (like me)

Stopped reading after that..... You never played FFXI pre 75 level cap then. Anything past level 15 you had to have a party.

Actually that's not true Beast Master at level 15 and so was Ninja/Blue Mage was a great job to solo with. Just wanna say that.
