King that is your opinion. There are still people playing most other MMo's. There are a number of f2p games. There are also a number of MMo's on the horizen one of which is Camelot Unchained which I'm hoping is an evolved form of the original DAoC before they bugged and rebalanced the game into what it is now(Also the lack of advertisments). Different strokes and all. Some people still pop back to EQ on silver or even gold their accounts because it's so damned big with so much to do. Same with FFXI and AO. Neverwinter is a meh game and D&D online isn't a bad game. There are lots of choices out there many of which are free to play or just have more content or more things to see. Even to this day I personally still think AO probably is the best sci-fi MMo because it captured the essence of sci-fi in how it not only did things but explained them. Also Elin lancer = OP unless they fixed the hitboxes because I remember tanking MC HM and the 1-shot attacks would go right over my tiny head. And if Tera didn't suffer from the SK attitude that they need to put out a good game that will grab people then move on to the next project it would have been FAR more successful. They didn't have much content released for it after it was put out. They also didn't have much more in SK. We got msot the updates at the same time and they made the RNG your final enemy with the way it rolled stats and you needed the MW scrolls to try and MW stuff. Which was just dumb.

I like the game, I really do. There are things I dislike, things I hope they change and things that I have just come to accept are not going anywhere. At my age (31) this will be the last hurrah of MMO's for me, after spending 8 years in final fantasy 11 I'm hoping this game can give me half the entertainment and giddy feelings that got me hooked on 11. I'd give anything to have some of that old 2004 FFXI rousing content that kept me logging in day after day. I am not going anywhere, I have goals in game and I enjoy it enough to justify spending 9.99 a month, I'll continue to put my trust in Yoshi and hope he will take this game to new heights.

The thing that bothers me most about the game is that it has so many self-defeating features.

Jobs/Classes - A big feature of the game was being able to customize your character by taking abilities from other classes, but jobs are so much better that they obsolete classes. Jobs provide a significant stat boost and some very important role specific abilities. On the other side of the coin, abilities that are able to be used cross-class are generally defensive cooldowns or a few utility abilities. There is no real customization or versatility gained by a class because each class is so tied to core rotation, and the abilities available for cross class are generally quite sub-par.On top of that, jobs limit the skills you can take down to two other classes so with 5 cross class selectable skills you have more than enough to grab the 1 or 2 that are worthwhile than the extras just pad out your hotbar with skills that you will never use.

Take Monk/Pugalist as an example. As a monk I am specailized do dps. I gain the abilities Fists of Fire for a 5% damage boost as well as dragon kick to reduce the enemy's defense and a stat boost. If I forgo all that, I sacrifice a huge portion of my dps but I am unable to build into either a tank or healer role because I will not have the health/defense or aggro generation to offtank anything, nor will I have the mana to heal or do any ranged dps, leaving pugalist obsolete.

Chocobo Companions - Can't queue for a dungeon and they soak up a large portion of the xp you gain, so the only reason to level them would be for bragging rights. The overworld is the only place they are useable, but the overworld is quite safe, so no real point to them.

Dye System - Whats the point of having a dye system if all the gear people use can't be dyed?

Materia System - The only piece of materia I ever had melded was for my relic quest. I forgot materia even existed until I started going over this list.

Housing and furniture - I get that housing was supposed to remove gil from the economy, but the way it was implemented did a lot more harm than good. Houses are insanely expensive, causing players to horde gil as well as putting more materials on the board in an effort to make something, causing prices on everything to crash. Furniture will not have any market around it for the foreseeable future because nobody has houses to put the furniture in, and even the rare furniture pieces are becoming overly abundant.

Guys, time will tell if FF will succeed or not. Till then, forums is not the be all and end all of the FF gaming community and thus it is a really bad means to judge if a game is liked or not.

Only time will tell. There are always many sides and many preferences. Stated your preference in "Doom and Gloom" does nothing much except spawn threads and arguments like this.

So for all that are unhappy, please state why and seek other meaning forms of entertainment or stay and enjoy the good, those that are happy just state why and please do not feed the threads.

I have played so many MMOs and games across 35 years. In forums it is always the same thing. The game might change. The agreements might change. But the same "Doom and Gloom" warfare between factions stay the same. And after many many MMOs, you know what. All the effort and time spend of fighting here... Barely makes a dent in Real Life and to game development.

Only thing that make big changes are numbers. So guys, please act with your feet and money. Words especially in forums where the vocal minority battle it out, is and has never been a good place for developers to actually make decisions by.

And if you guys think developers will read and learn from threads where forumers do war in. You need to think again.

Lets remove the combative threads and be adults here.

That way, there is a way higher chance that what we discuss and the outcome of said discussions will be taken note of by the developers.

Your blacksmith is level 20. To put that into perspective I leveled my botanist more in one day than you have combined levels. .
yes i support all those games because i liked them and want to see those games continue.i dont like alot of things what swtor does and will do (nor the direction of sdgo is going either), but i support those games because i am fan of those series.

I disagree with and have counters for almost every point you made.

The only 2 things I can see eye to eye with on you are:

*The community is rubbish and whinny (paraphrasing)

*And the fact that you elude to these points as being your opinion/s.

As much as I enjoy FFXIV 2.0, I would really like to see Yoshi team stepping it up with the content for both casual and hardcore players alike.

With 2.1 we know that the team is capable of delivering a big bag of contents in one go (despite CT supposed to have been available since launch). However in all honesty these contents weren't exactly well tested before their release. For example, the PVP system, which despite the recent balance patch, have left me and many friends with a bad taste as well as doubt for the future PVP contents.

I know that the team had their hand tied since release from unprecedented number of logins and overloaded server, but now all of that is more or less smoothed out. Everything will come down to how well the future content patch will live up to the previous patch and so on to keep players like my FC and I motivated to log in and play. Also, I'm not the type to judge a patch based on the dev previews, but I hope Yoshi and the team moved on after 2.2 instead of relying on the new shiny primals as the patch highlight. After 2.2, I believe it's time for a couple new zones, a new base class and a job or two tied to it ontop of the latest CT and coil rollout.

As for my enjoyment of this game, yes, I think my money was worth the fun time meeting new friends and adventuring with them even if it does get a bit dry after the 2nd half of a patch cycle (some of us are beginning to log on less and playing sidegames). Is this a bad thing? Yes and no. I realize that my core group belong to that small demographic that tends to eat up new contents faster than the dev can churn out another platter. I don't blame the dev for that since it's an accepted fact for most MMOs, but at the same time, I am finding it hard to enjoy the side contents like beastman dailies and treasure hunting. They are great ideas to add replayability and log in motivation, but I find them to be a bit lacking in excitement and challenge. How about letting you earn token/seals to enter an instance fight (ala BCNM) from beastman dailies? Or giving treasure hunters the chance to find mini pieces of a big map and combine them for an epic open world raid that'd actually require 8 people?

Anyway those are just my observations and suggestions. I am still happy with the way this game is going despite the downsides, but I believe that Yoshi and the team can't afford to drop the ball for any future patch. It must be just as good if not better than 2.1 and peak out on the first expansion pack. Yes, I will hold out at least for the first expac this year but this time, the expectations of many people including mine will be high.
