Jeez, that's like a checklist of things FFXIV lacks. They sorta did that in FFXI. Just, you know, with multiplayer and grinding. It still had:
-Linear cutscene driven story
-"Limit breaks"
-Cid
-Dungeons with door locks/puzzles/shenanigans and a boss at the end
-Rich lore (Something the non-Ivalice games lacked)
-Great characters
-Well designed world
-Excellent series of storylines
-Optional quests
-Actual Final Fantasy stuff (Chocobo racing, summons, etc.)
- NO - simple as that, I'm not here to play FFXI-2, they can put the good useful features they used in FFXI into FFXIV but clone? No thanks.
- FFXI and FFXIV is programmed differently, like FFXIV using Crystal Tools so it's not as easy to just simply copy/paste code and bam! you got yourself a cool FFXI with new upgraded graphics.
- If you speak of this again, I will smite you with my sweaty subligar...
well ffxi wasn't made for casual play, and this one seems to be going that route. if they trying to get back all the old ffxi players it ain't gonna happen this way. ffxi-2 casual mode isn't what they looking for, it will be ffxi-2 more hardcore mode.
If I was SE, I'd want to tap into the huge fanbase of final fantasy lovers who are either casual or play FF single player console RPGs (See 6 million people)...
And TBH, it's not like they didn't warn us of that from day 1... from the very first interview, they said this game would be very accessible to casual gamers
The single-player titles had challenges appealing to both casual and "hardcore" audiences, without dumbing down the intuitive and engaging gameplay in the process. Good story-telling is essential to any good RPG (though the stagnant gameplay and lack of real content in FFXIV surely detracts from what is present).
/disagree
I wish they had kept the game under the title "Rapture" or whatever code word they used.... so that all these stupid-ass, whiney FF fanboys would piss off with their Black Mages, Paladins, Chocobos and other asinine unimportant drivel. Make the game fun first. Appeal to the pissy basement dwellers last.
I quitted ffxi, why i should play the same game again ? <_<
i don't think offline final fantasy really has anything u can call hardcore to them, something like maybe demon souls was frickin crazy but even like ff13, pretty much everyone beat the game same times for most part, only thing that seperates it is doing trophy's, or things like 5stars on nm kills. but even then u go threw all the nm's the first time, then u don't really go back to that nm for 5star till your max level. but either way i'm more talking about challenging content not so much as time consuming crap. ffxiv seems to just be giving away there gears and making every step we have taken in this game just way easy and unchallenging at all and i am thinking it will stay like this.
I'd love FFXI-2, but I don't really want XIV to become FFXI-2. I do want XIV to give me the same "Wow this is fucking awesome I'm going to play this everyday" feeling that XI gave me though. Then again, maybe XIV won't be the MMO to give me that feeling.
i LOVED FFXI, but i dont want this turd to be FFXI-2.....i want a separate game that is a true FFXI-2, with all the lore and some future setting with a new story and such. Let FF14 be what it is, its not worth changing that much, not like it will every really come anywhere close to what FFXI was anyways.
