Would make sense if arcanist jobs were all that awesome, but you can't even issue orders to your pet if you don't put it in Obey (which still needs a target, for some reason).
What a joke.
When that happens, those extra 30 points will mean as much as upgrading one single gear to raid level.
Right now those 30 points are the same as upgrading a regular relic to +1.
Completely fair.
Yoshida hates the arcanist class, simple as that.

Funny, you basically say arcanist is unplayable unless you know how to play arcanist. Use a macro, and all will be made right. Do not like macros? Do not play acranist. Simple as that. Or just figure you will never be able to control your pet, and let it run wild.
Now you either micro manage, or don't manage anything at all. How that adds anything to the gameplay, besides "inconvenience"?
I guess I was having it too easy by leaving Selene to buff whenever she could and being able to Embrace who I wanted. Fun shall be nerfed.
Just keep using your GC points to stockpile Keepers Hymns. I've already got 5. Will come in handy once they add other jobs and we have to change stats on the fly.
People just don't get this do they? There is nothing that needs fixing, this was intentional. You are meant to choose one or the other, or as you pointed out be mediocre at both.
The stat points belong to the class, not the job. The job is a thing you get for wearing a rock.
SMN and SCH was the first branching job of many. Over time we will be getting more, the idea is to ALLOW you to play every job, but you cant easily play them all at 100%. You pick your spec for arcanist if you want to specialize in damage or healing, you'll have to pick your spec for marauder if you want to tank or whatever it's hierarchy leads to. Not only are they NOT going to "fix" this, youre going to see more of it. People want the ability to customize, as long as they can be the best at EVERYTHING. it makes no sense. Its like speccing in any other game, no fire mages in wow complain that they dont have the best ice spells. Thats right, remember that? In almost every other game, there are abilities in your OWN class that you cant use because of decisions you made, at least in this game, you only have a slight difference in stats that honestly dont even matter that much.
It only seems odd now because arcanist is the only class with a branch right now.

This is FFXIV not Wow. What my point states is that this botched design of smn/sch breaks from previous FF jobs. I do have a 85 Blm. To ask any player to gimp one job over another because you were too lazy to separate a simple code to recognize a jobs strength is retarded. DO that to any other class and lets see the Flames roll. I have played every ff since Nintendo. This job path is flawed plain and simple. And no you will not see them do this with another job class. The game was advertised to be fully customizable, job switch on the fly, and reduced need for gear etc.., Smn/Sch goes against this with attribute gimp. Play ffxi Sch smn Whm Rdm Blm then you will see the progression. Until then, you flame my complaint without the knowledge of the lore or the jobs that came before.
