    2.15 The State of PVP

    So lets face it I've been out of the game a minute with PVP because as a summoner I got tired of facerolling with no real challenge or reward. Insert other excuses for not pvping here.


    So with the changes to Summoner and Scholar and the composition of teams being locked into Tank/Melee/Healer/Ranged how do you feel about PVP now?

    Are summoners still globaling you?

    Is there any issues with jumping?

    As a melee is your experience more enjoyable?

    Have you identified the new flavor of the month?

    Is the grind to 30 any shorter?

    How are the queue times DPS/Tank/Healer/Solo/Duo/4 man?

    Has Square Enix taken a step in the right direction?

    What problems have you identified in 2.15 and pre-2.15 that need to be addressed and how would you fix them?

    I feel like I've lost a dear friend.

    Summoners are still strong, its just harder for them cause they have less escape options.

    Not sure, i was never a jumper or melee so I wouldn't know if it's fixed or not.

    queues are fast as healer in all compositions

    Taking res away from SMN needed to happen, the nerfs on miasma i don't think were necessary. The forced melee ranged fixes overpowered smn/blm, smn/smn, or brd/brd comps but is bittersweet since nobody on my server played melee dps in pvp so we have to make a ranged say bye bye to his precious gear and play a dif class.

    As far as problems go there is not enough abilities that cause heavy now, stone, weapon throw, and lethargy are the only ones i know of so casters just run laps and melee can't keep up with them and with the nerf to storms eye and disease healing debuffs it takes forever to kill anything. Where the healing classes seemed pretty balanced before in terms of utility and viability it seems WHM has taken a clear lead now

    I haven't had a queue longer than 5 minutes (Primal server group), even as a ranged dps. It has been a little longer though.
    I'm confused how anyone could "get tired of 'facerolling', you'd think anyone in that position would relish it.

    1) The team comp change has meant longer queue times for ranged dps. The grouping should have been 1 Physical DPS and 1 Magic DPS (that is, BRD with the melees), because this change nerfs BRD slightly due to requiem becoming totally useless.

    2)I don't know what you mean by "globalling" but summoner is fine. They have their high burst but now, that's all they have. No weight, no raise, less healing reduction = no QQ.

    3) Jumping was fixed

    4) Don't have any melee jobs leveled, can't tell you


    5) There isn't one really. It's harder for any one job to stand out with the new role split.

    6) TONS shorter. EXP and Marks were drastically increased.

    7) Covered this already. Queuing for 3s will be longer than it was before because it rewards less marks/XP so fewer people will do it. Outside of that, Ranged dps kinda get the short end of the stick on queue times.

    8) Yes

    9) As mentioned previously the team comp change unexpectedly nerfed BRD a bit, and the changes to SMN mean BLM is the only person in the ranged dps group with effective CC.

    I dont understand what u mean with this can u explain? In my experience there is like 60% bards 30% summoners and 10% black mages if u solo que

    I was on a one track mind. it was supposed to be BLM, not BRD there.

    That aside, the situation would have been a lot better if BRD was grouped with the melee DPS and not the casters.

    - Summoners still global people. Had a 70-geared SMN crit me for over 1.7k in my 90 gear. 90-geared SMN still steamroll easily and can practically handle a whole team.
    - Jumping is fixed
    - Only 'enjoyable' melee is MRD and maybe PLD if played right. DRG and MNK are still meh at best.
    - FOTM is still SMN / MRD
    - Grind to 30 is easy. Solo queue significantly buffed.
    - Queue time as M. DPS is less than 5m
    - Yes they have
    - Fix Non-Job Classes from outperforming their successors. Tone down SMN / MRD damage. Add incentive to 4v4 bracket (Ladder for example)

    Not quite. Its possible to do that, but technically it just means bursting someone down using only things off your global cooldown.
