A suggestion about how to deal with old gears when ffxiv evolves

Today, when I was chatting with my teammates in the game, he had a good idea about how to deal with old gears when the game continues to evolve and new, more powerful gears appear.
As a player who joined ARR immediately in wake of its initialization, I think many people like me and my friends have spent a lot of time on running dungeons, challenging Primals and collecting philosophy and mythology points. Every single ilv90 gear in our armory presents the efforts and the essence of wit which we pour into FFXIV. However, when the game evolves into a new stage, like forthcoming 2.2, all those gears will have to be abandoned by all of us very soon because we can get more high-level gears (such ilv100 gears) rather easily. But for those who have been playing the game from the start, it seems that our loyalty and confidence in SE and FFXIV cannot let us earn any bonus. All of players, either newcomers or experienced players, run at the same starting line. I think SE can do something for loyal and hard-working player in some aspects.
Here I present a solution. Maybe it’s naïve and immature. I suggest that when the game walks into a new version, SE should let player sell the old gears (like Allegan or Mythology-point gears) to NPCs in order to exchange the new points. Or SE makes it is possible for us to upgrade the older set into the new set by spending some new points and surely the spending points are less than the points you buy the new set directly. The quantity and rules of this discount can be discussed, like 80-90%. It won’t give a huge advantage to older player. It’s nothing but a kind of consolation.
If you have the similar opinion, please support me so as to let SE hear us.

The only thing I woud like to make gear upgradable is to make it so materias can be attached to them, nothing more.

You "work hard" for those items now, you get them now. The only think I really want about old gear is a good place to store it. Something better than those retainers...

sure, if you like that gears, you can store them. For me, I would like to get some coupons for the new gears.

So basically you want to turn in your old gear for new tokens that you could use to buy the next tier of gear?

I'm not to wild about the idea. Part of the point of introducing new gear is so 1) new players are at a similar level as veterans, so as to attract new blood with a clean slate, and 2) give veteran players something new to work for. If you could trade in your gear for 80-90% tokens like you said, that largely nullify both of those functions. New players are at a bigger disadvantage again, and now veterans can just coast their way into the next tier even easier.

I know it's also lame that all your gear is immediately made obsolete, but I would really like them to find a way to design gear better so that it's not all about "tiers." If they expanded how it was in 1.23 maybe

I can't support selling myth items to get (insert new tome name here) items personally.

That said I wish there was a way to convert them to their original currencies. Such as trading in dl for some philo, or myth gear for some myth tomes. Obviously not a full price refund, maybe 1/4, maybe 1/1000? Idk I just wish there was something I could do with my never to be touched again dl gear wasting space. Or when the new stuff comes out recycling my myth items into a different set of myth gear for another class as my main gears up in ilv???s.

I'd at least like to turn them into materia if they have 100% Spiritbond. I think that's really the least SE could do besides say "We understand your frustration, but have no plans to make these things useful in any way ever again."

Also, please source this third retainer stuff. I saw it in another thread, but I was not given and could not find confirmation of it.

Just give me my personal housing with my own hall of my mannequin clones wearing my old garbs doing various poses.

Do we even have mannequins right now? Pricing is so ridiculous that I dont even bother with it to the point where I havent even been to the neighborhood zones, let alone someone's house.

Or they can do it the XI way and use the base gear to create better gear?

AF (levels 52-60) gets upgraded to AF+1 (for level 75's) then AF+2 (for level 90's), meaning you have to complete the older content to get the older gear before you can advance it to the newer gears, with a different upgrade path so you're not shoehorned (AF/Relic/Empyrean) which in turn gives the player more options, you can mix AF, Relic and Empy (naturally the XIV equivalents) to get the best in slot, rather than throwing away the gear because it's now obsolete.
