1. Play a different game while you wait for changes you deem sufficient to return - the team took over in December, they took a pole from the player base for some basic metrics on what to improve to placate, nay, excite said player base. Results for this pole were released at the end of January (in the first letter from the producer). So really one could deduce that they didn't have concise direction until that time (if one was reasonable). So we'll say they've been actively working to fix issues the player base identified in the polls for 5 months. I think the game has come around quite a bit in those 5 months - especially considering I stopped playing because I felt it was unplayable from about mid September until early February. Upon returning I found the game to be a bit more enjoyable and have been playing ever since. Bottom line is - don't burn yourself out playing a game your unhappy with; the games free so take as much of a break as you see fit - it's not costing a penny to do so.

2 & 3. The game shipped in beta - some even argue it was still in alpha. It's irrelevant what any other MMO shipped with. The circumstances that plagued XIV on release are why it's been off to a slow start, and this, this is why people should be a little more understanding - asking for expansion level content (which in all honesty, all be it half arsed, they are getting ready to give us) while they are trying to rectify the issues, and while it's still free to play is completely pompous.

First patch under Yoshida's regime wasn't even put out until February. I mean seriously. Scoffing at the fact that they haven't given us brand spanking new monsters, brand spanking new equipment skins, brand spanking new maps is just plain ludicrous.
