Hmmm that's weird, I remember paying $80x2 for 2xCE versions and then $240 for a new graphics card just for this game and $360 for my wifes new monitor just so she can play this game in larger screen... I don't remember it being "FREE". They had to make the 'SERVICE' free because the first team screwed up (or got screwed by SE admins who only looks at money, and release dates) Sorry but had to say this, hate when people think we should be happy that we get to play this game for FREE now.
SE made me rob two houses and stab a bum on the streets to get the money for the game and graphics card. They should be the one serving the prison sentence... not me =(
three things I am worried about.
1) why release a rank 25 dungeon when you level so quickly? As a noob, I passed rank 25 in a week. Now that I am more experienced, and have gil in the bank, i can do in far faster. For noobs, I can easily see that many would out level this dungeon before they even knew about its existence. For experienced players, why would I waste time tooling around in a rank 25 dungeon when I know ill out rank the gear in it within a week? Why add a rank 25 dungeon?
Either make it more of an adventure to rank up, or revamp this dungeon to a higher rank. A rank that isn't so easily made obsolete.
2) I remember Salvage being advertized as 18 man content. Even though it was advertized as such, it really was designed for a 3-6 man group. I really hope that this will require all 8 members. I really do.
3) I also question the rank choice of 45. Every job is incredibly different at rank 50. For example, once Gladiator gets deflection, it becomes an entirely different experience. Are we to be level capped during this? If not, I am worried that I have outranked content that hasn't even been released yet.
Don't get me wrong, I am all up for applying knowledge of game mechanics to make a fight easier. But, I am not up for making a fight easier by out ranking the content. Especially before the content is even released. For example, take Roaming NM fights with a group of 45's. With skill, these go down, but there can still be an element of danger. With a group of all 50's, I don't know of any roaming NM that takes more than 10 minutes to kill. (unless your slacking off) I was worried that these dungeons would fall into the same difficulty level as roaming NM's. Now, I am even more worried that it will be the case.
i think the rank 45 is just so you dont "have to be" 50 to get in, you can take 45s in also.(but i bet itl be alot harder)three things I am worried about.

I disagree. If you think of it in terms of the current team's philosophy, the dungeon should be good for ranks 25-35. Not only that, but the gear that is going to drop off the NMs in the dungeon is going to be far better than any crafted gear you can get. It's like the NM gear on the current mid level NMs. Of course non of it is better than r50 gear, but much of it is better or comparable to rank 35-40 level gear and some of it gets damn close to the stats on 50 gear. Add in to that the possibility that r25s can SP in the dungeon and why WOULDN'T you run it?three things I am worried about.

1. IMO, they seriously need to rethink the fact they shortened the 1-25 level curve. Yes, it was painful back in the old SP system. When SP was inconsistent, and me being a CON duoing with my husband the PUG meant he 'stole' all my SP, and it took me months to get my CON leveled. Now, they've got the inconsistent SP fixed and it takes a fraction of the time. I think they should steepen the curve, despite how much it might make people rage. It shouldn't be the cakewalk it is now.1) why release a rank 25 dungeon when you level so quickly? As a noob, I passed rank 25 in a week. 2. Not everyone has R50s. Not all of us put up with the roadblocks of frustration in this game. We took breaks along the way so we'd have the stamina to come back, refreshed. Many people quit in the first month, and I know SE is thinking they'd like to lure them back. Believe it not, there are new players who come to check out this game since it's currently F2P. And we're (hopefully) looking ahead to someday release on the PS3. There needs to be low-level and mid-level content to keep new players. Even WoW, whose mantra is 'Life Begins At Endgame' offers low-mid level dungeons.
Besides, I'm greatly looking forward to the R25 dungeon.![]()

its refreshing to see a non 50 give their opinion(one with a signature to show they arent there)1. IMO, they seriously need to rethink bolstering the 1-25 level curve. looks like you need 1 more rank to participate though in the new dungeon

Thank you, TheVedis. I've taken some flack for it (some people don't take me seriously since I'm not at level cap, even though I've played since closed beta ... just been taking my time and taking breaks here and there so I don't get burned out with frustration). But I display my signature bravely.
I have a plan! I'm a sliver away from 25 and I'm waiting for the 1.18 changes so I can get my husband to log in and we're gonna hit 25 and we're gonna dungeon it up! It'll be glorious.
I was hoping the fact that they gave us one mid-level dungeon and one high-level dungeon that it would keep both groups of players happy. Unfortunately, the heated debates continue. :/

... level cap does not mean r50 can't enter but it mean that r50 will be lower to r30

A couple JPN posts about the difficulty of the dungeons. What I'm reading sounds pretty good so far. I like a challenge.
The upcoming dungeons are estimated to be, in a nutshell, "really hard". I also confirmed the dungeon boss's difficulty with the dev team.
If you ever hope to defeat The Dzemael Darkhold dungeon boss, you will need to clearly assign roles amongst your specialized party of 8 rank 50 players. Furthermore, you can't just think of the boss as just a strong version of an ordinary monster. You will need to use special, boss-specific strategies to achieve victory.
I haven't played it myself yet, but I am looking forward to it
I confirmed the party member limit with Yoshi-P.
The party member limits for the dungeons introduced in patch 1.18 is:
- The Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak: 4-man limit
- The Dzemael Darkhold: 8-man limit
This means that for the 4-man dungeon, you must be in a party of 4 and only 4. If you are in a party that has over or under 4 members, you will not be allowed in the dungeon. Same goes for the 8-man dungeon.
We have decided on those hard-coded party member limits for now due to balance and server load concerns as a starting point. We will then gather feedback and input from the players as they play through the content in patch 1.18 so that we can further experiment with the party member limit and try to incorporate more variation into the game.
YoshiP says, "The 8-man party dungeon, "Dzemael Darkhold", has a reeeaaallly good boss drop, so please try it out!"
