Light-hearted freelancers-- are there none left?

    Disclaimer: Semi-rant.

I recently came back to ARR after a few months of not being able to play because of real life reasons. Of course, my old FC is no longer, & everyone else and their mom is already in a group. A buddy of mine at this point invited me to his current FC to join his static coil party. My first thought was, "OKAY!" but upon thinking on it some more my lack of experience with high-end instances due to an extended absence would likely hinder their efforts where efficiency is concerned. Though I'm no slouch, I really don't want to be that guy. It would be more fun to experience new content with other first-timers.

Anyway, setting out into Eorzea on my own, I discovered that this game had gotten even better! The amount of stuff to do supplemented by witty text from NPCs that seem oh-so-alive with personality ("Walking one must help the little one's reclaim the Chosen One!") is around every corner. If it was possible to fall in love with a game, ARR is it for me, and while solo gaming is just fine it's difficult to get anything done with the duty finder being what it is. So I began making attempts to find other kindred spirits.

A day or so ago I happened upon a few stragglers here and there, and partied up with them for a little while. But the quality of random groups are so subject to chance, and it wasn't long before I came across people that really broke the sweet and carefree charm this game has so much of to offer. In one instance, if they weren't swearing about this or that, they were complaining about the game every which way possible. While being personally overjoyed with how wonderful the characters are near the Sylphlands, it really doesn't add to the atmosphere in hearing the f word multiple times within the span of a few seconds, or how "happy" (the other word for happy) everything is over the microphone.

Which leads me to my question. Are there any laid-back freelancers out there that are looking for like-minded individuals? As for what kind of player I am, my main character is a WM, and I'm the kind of person that doesn't really care what we're doing as long as the atmosphere is a positive one. Of course, actually making progress in the game would be great, but I don't mind just hanging out throwing emotes at each other while chopping down trees either. For character status quo I've passed titan HM shortly after launch before my break, and have a Relic +1 with full darklight. I'm also really into helping low-level players progress. Mostly because I like helping, but partly since it makes me feel like God to one-shot everything I see lol .

All jokes aside, if anyone is interested please post here. I am in Cactuar.
Tnx for taking the time xD.

I didn't meet a single asshole in this game until I got to level 50. I'd say i really don't meet that many of them, but the quality of their personality is so terrible that it just really leaves a longer lasting mark.

I'd say everyone i encountered 1-50 felt like me, fun to be around and eager to explore stuff. But the moment i ended up in a party of 8 capped players, suddenly you encounter the people who have been playing way too long and complain on the forums all day.

idk man, seems most of the 'complainers' are these sorts that say everyone is a big meanie, or the ones that want the game to still be ffxiv 1.0 or ffxi redux

It's that feeling of entitlement/superiority. Once they hit 50 they think they know better than the rest and so act accordingly. It's rare I come across patient, high-level players which is probably why I try my best to assist newcomers. As a way to indirectly make up for and get back at rude ppl lol.

I hear this from others. None of them are in Cactuar though lol. Maybe I should close my eyes and randomly point to a new server lol.
Of course it isn't true, meaning there has to be cool ppl in this server. But it's difficult to find a fit now as opposed to before. Cliques and groups are dug-in pretty well. Nothing wrong with being the new guy, but it'd be nice to just be, "guy doing the same thing I am", you know?

I say go and try out your Buddies static and get a feel for everyone, T1-4 are pretty easy healing wise and +1 and full DL is more than enough for those turns. Watch a couple videos and I am sure you already have and it will be a breeze. T5 is the one you got to learn from experience lots of timed heals and Stone skins.

I have healed T1-4 with a i60 SCH as the 2nd healer. Had 1 wipe on each turn since I was so used to how our main SCH heals, was kind of nice having to pay attention for once again. So as long as you can get a heal off you will be fine. lol

Edit: As long as everyone else knows what they need to do as well that is...

We're inclusive and laid back. We have crafters and gatherers also and sometimes put together random groups to spiritbond. Of course, you don't have to join our FC if you don't want to. You can still feel free to send me a friend request regardless
Okay! I'll look you up sometime today if you're online xD.

As for joining an FC. It's not that I'm against it, just pretty solid in the whole, "Once-I'm-in-I'm-here-for-the-long-haul-so-take-all-my-stuff-in-your-company-chest" thing lol. Don't like trying out a group just to leave again.

you seem like a wonderful person and scarlet's people will most likely be happy to have you.
