Collecting minions is my raison d'etre, I will always welcome small scale events that break from the tedium of endgame, specially when they provide awesome new minions and nostalgia ridden cutscenes.

I liked waiting at the fate spawn site, so many people all gathered and then all the mobs running around when they did spawn, cut-scene was funny, minion is great.
What Puff Puff was actually referring to xdddd
Laughed so much.
I guess you had to know it.
Still, it was too short.

Making Mecha-Shantotto a primal-type battle instead of just another FATE would have been nice. The cut-scenes and stuff are cool, just wish devs wouldn't simply just default to FATEs for everything and try to be at least a little creative.
I too found these events pretty disappointing. The Lightning crossover was awesome. They put a lot of work into it, it was really cool to see her in game, along with a number of FFXIII enemies. And the rewards, while low level were perfectly fitting and functional.
These two new ones are not so cool. While I did play FFXI years ago, I honestly don't know anything about Shantotto. For what I played of it, she was never a part of mygrindadventure. Not a significant character the way lightning is.
As for the other event... I have never played the dragon quest games, so I honestly don't know what the puff is wrong with dragon quest. This event was neither fun nor funny. It was just... I don't know what it was supposed to be. I think I am actually less inclined to play a dragon quest game now.
She's much more important of a character if your FFXI character had been Windurstian, from what I remember. I was San d'Orian, though, so I didn't really care much about her. I noticed SE tried to make her more of a figurehead of FFXI sometime after CoP and put her in non-FFXI things like the Dissidia games.
I think they honestly missed a cool opportunity to thank people who had played both games... if Shantotto's quest had referenced the fact that you had a character in FFXI, or if she had given you a special item for having played both games, that might have felt more rewarding.

"Well, it's no Vana'diel, but it'll have to do..."
Get used to this gimmickry. SE excels using Marketing and PR to generate buzz about half-baked, redundant and embarrassingly horrid content.I knew they wouldnt be big, but lordy lordy that was some half baked if ive ever seen it. Two "quests" (if you can call them that) built exactly the same (talk to npc > 2 fates in a row > talk again for 2 min CS =done) were short to say the least. I get holiday events being short since they constantly repeat, but these i cant imagine we will see every year...could they not put in at least a little effort?
Oh and as ive noticed with this group of devs..."throw it in a fate" seems to be the easy way out.
Nice "quest accepted" logo's though...
My only complaint is I couldn't have Zhe Puff Puff from the Beefy Businessman.
I actually felt uncomfortable during that cut scene...
Also...why couldn't it have been slimes like normal.
The Lightning event was pretty high quality I thought. And I don't fancy XIII or Lightning.
Haven't done the DQ one and don't really plan to. In general I think they put too much effort into this side stuff when they could be adding more content to flesh out the actual XIV world.
Your logic (or lack thereof) is strange. If it's a one time thing they shouldn't be putting a lot of resources into it. If it's something that occurs regularly, that would call for more resources. Sounds like you are just trying to be a douchebag.I get holiday events being short since they constantly repeat, but these i cant imagine we will see every year...could they not put in at least a little effort?
