Biggest problem with XIV is XI fans

I think the biggest problem with FFXIV is the FFXI fans who just cant get over their FFXI fixation.
First of all FFXI was a mediocre PC-style mmo in a FF setting, it was dated at release, now the concept belongs in a museum.

You littered these forums with FFXI comparisons and complaints and that is not helpful for anyone for the simple reason XIV cannot be turned into XI even if the devs wanted to, so get over it.

FFXIV is in a rough state yes, it should not have been released, yeah yeah everybody knows that already so why beat this dead horse every single day?

FFXIV is missing many things like more story, quests that have a story to them, a purpose for the grind, itemization, rewards balance, decent tutorials, a reason to explore, hidden stuff.....off the top of my head.

There is a lot that can be improved and added to FFXIV that will make it into a good game so why not concentrate on that instead of endlessly stating the obvious (game is in rough shape) or silliness like turn it into XI.

This game wouldn't even exist without FFXI. Many (if not most) of the people playing this game played FFXI. Lots of features from FFXI would make FFXIV a better game if implemented. In my opinion, you need to get over it yourself, because this game will always draw comparisons to FFXI, and telling people to stop on these message boards is akin to pissing in the middle of the ocean; you might have made yourself feel better but no one is going to notice.

Since its SE lots will compare to it's previous game FFXI - I remember somewhere SE also said they wanted to keep the FFXI in the name so that why they chose FFXIV as next MMO - can't find source.

Biggest problem with XIV is that it wasn't even done when it was officially released into the market, and thought they can walk away with that. Slap on some Square-Enix logo and SOLD! specially for XI fans who thought it was gonna be the next great MMO that will follow XI. (for me just the story and few other stuff from XI... XI still had/have problems)

FFXI - 10 yrs old - at least twice the pop of FFXIV.

FFXIV - .75 yrs old - can't even keep a decent pop and the game is free.

Problem with FFXIV is the people who like FFXI? Please get over yourself.

The problem with XIV is fans like you trying to divide other fans of the game for you're own enjoyment. This game doesn't suck because PEOPLE like it, or LIKED XI. It sucks because it was rushed and thats effing apparent. Get a clue.

This FFXI VS FFXIV crap is getting old.
