Seriously SE, make crafter/gatherer gear DoH/DoL only.

First off I'd like to preface this by saying I have lv50 all jobs/classes so there is no bias against crafters or w/e here. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm tired of carrying people who want to cash in on crafter materias through WP/AK/CT/CM etc. Wearing class appropriate gear to SB in any dungeon is perfectly fine by me, but wearing a full set of lv 30 crafter gear to make T2 crafter materias is unacceptable and should not be tolerated. Is any one of those instances hard? No. Can you do it with 1 in the group geared this way and it not really affect the outcome of the run? Usually, yes. But for example, I've had numerous CT runs where a DPS was in full crafter gear at the Atomos fight cause slow dps on adds, which caused 3 adds to spawn, which wiped the group, and then wiped the entire alliance, most of the time with the offending party having a very 'screw everyone' else attitude. CT is already bad enough with the steady influx of trolls berating players that are new to the dungeon, all this is doing is exacerbating an already annoying problem. Some people will undoubtedly respond to this with 'that's what the vote kick feature is for,' and that would be great, except plenty of the aforementioned offenders join in groups, and I personally have been vote kicked for harassment by calling a member out for this exact behavior. (By calling them out I mean saying nothing more than wearing full crafter gear in a raid is BS, which it is.) Again, I don't know about anyone else, but I don't run dungeons to make gil for random trolls.

I leveled my brd, blm and whm in almost full crafting gear since 2.1. I did lots of instances in that gear... I got commendations in nearly every one of those instance runs.

Gear has very little impact on low level content. Proper weapon and not being dumb does much more. As for CT... Yup I SB in there to. Why? If I have to deal with 10+ people that can't be bothered to do a fight correctly and force what should be a 30 minute instance into an hour long instace... yeah I am SBing.

I SB high level accessories in CT and get commendations for that as well. I have also tanked KB several times now with those improper accessories because the tank in the proper (and better) gear decided to be bad and stand in stuff/not use CDs.

Whats worse... me spiritbonding or...


Healers not healing.
Tanks provoking off of people when they shouldn't.. even after getting yelled at by the healers to stop.
Dps ignoring adds.
Tanks ignoring adds.
People dropping comets on/in KB/IG.
Not standing on their groups pad.
Not keeping their tower clicked.
Killing the skele adds right next to the boss.
Facing dragon tails at the raid.

People being stupid is why I see raids fail. I don't see raids fail because a few people are spirit bonding gear.

^ This is referencing Lv 50 raids. If you don't see that as a detriment to the group, then you just don't want to.

I do it all the time as a healer or a tank.

I've healed bosses as a WHM using Amber set of accessories (just increased HP), or Zircon (increased INT) - both of which have stats that are useless to a WHM, and I've healed just fine. A 150 loss per Cure isn't going to make the world come falling when I am still healing for 850 per Cure. The point here is even if I were to wear crafter gear, I'd still be able to pull through just fine.

I've also tanked dungeons in spiritbonding gear too. My tank is already pretty geared at this point, so having 5k health instead of 6.8k in a WP/any HM dungeon isn't going to kill anyone really. I often go spiritbonding Duty Roulette High Level as a tank, so I get gil from dungeons, bonus gil from "adventurer in need" bonus, and spiritbonding exp.

If anything, just ask people to switch to proper gear for bosses if it really bothers you that much. Otherwise, trash mobs are fine. You don't get any spiritbonding exp against bosses, so no reason not to switch to proper gear for bosses.

I've done CT with no shit, not pants and a dream hat on. Healed just fine. But our whole group was geared like this mostly to just counter troll and prove the point that you don't really need gear to do CT. That being said I wouldn't like a separate armory for this stuff just so it doesn't get in my what when trying to find gear in my normal armory. I have 13 level 50 classes. finding gear is a pain.

I gave up on having proper crafting gear for all my crafts. I just keep gear for the ones I need/use and ignore the rest. Just level them for hte cross class and melding.

Yes, but Vanity slots supposedly is here to save the day. Soon. In some form. With maybe limited use and weird restrictions and bugs.

Saber I think we both agree, maybe I said things wrong. If they did put restrictions on crafting gear there MIGHT be a way around that with vanity slots so you wouldn't have to level up a crafter/gatherer. I don't agree they need to restrict it. Instead of caster gear being All, why not restrict that for DoM as well? I don't agree with that either. I admit I will chain run AV a lot to spiritbond gear, but I won't go in with a full set of DoM gear (especially saving In Progress groups, they are just thankful a tank is there that knows what they are doing, they don't care if I am wearing a felt hat with a feather in it), and in later dungeons I MIGHT only have 2 gear swapped for spiritbonding. The meteor ring of course, and a single other piece of gear.
