Of course it will be sub based. Yoshi not going to go FtP, ever. They will have to pay the same as everyone else to play the game.
He said this originally but later changed it to they'll switch to whatever model seems best given that circumstance (basically all options open) or completely shut the game down.
Uhhh, a game can both be non sub based and non FTP you know. In China it's actually quite common for them to buy time as they play instead of an actual subscription.
If China can have their own servers why can't Xbox One lol oh well
China has over four times the number of just MMO gamers than Microsoft has total Xbox Live Gold subscribers. Also, Microsoft may have required SE to set up servers in many different regions to get worldwide coverage.
Also, from what I've read, people in East Asia (and China?) can pay an Internet cafe for time online, then choose any MMO or online game to play during that time. The Internet cafe pays the MMO. WoW counts even one brief login per month as a subscriber. It's apparently widely known but that's partly why their numbers are so high.

Massively seems to think it will be free to pay http://massively.joystiq.com/2014/01...inese-version/
I hope I can choose Chinese language in the US version of the game in the future(I live in the US but I speak both Chinese and English), but I know it's not likely to happen. hmmm
