Monk Macro Rotation? Is it possible?

    Hello Community!

I recently hit 50 on my monk, and seeing as I play with a controller over keyboard, I wanted to optimize my cool downs. One way to make a bit more space on my first set was to put my 2 rotations on 2 macros.
    Example for my macro

    /micon dragon kick
    /ac "Snap Punch" <t>
    /ac "Twin Snakes" <t>
    /ac "Dragon Kick" <t>

The big problem I ran into is it seems by pressing the macro before its off GCD it will just proc dragon kick instead of finishing my combo of snap punch. I've tried /wait commands, but nothing seems to remedy this. Regardless of your view on putting them all in one macro or not, is it possible to remedy this issue? If so, how?

I think the general consensus is that it's not worth it. I personally don't use any macros on MNK and I hate them on all classes because they don't queue abilities before GCD is up, so you end up spamming them a lot more. Then again I use G600 mouse instead of a controller so I have plenty of room for keybinds.

I believe the consensus from the last thread a week or two ago was that, if you absolutely must do this (and you shouldn't), you should double up on the Snap Punch and Twin Snakes lines to reduce the chances of a mistimed starter.

    /ac "Snap Punch" <t>
    /ac "Twin Snakes" <t>
    /ac "Snap Punch" <t>
    /ac "Twin Snakes" <t>
    /ac "Dragon Kick" <t>

Note that this only *reduces* the chance of DK going off at the wrong time. It's still a really bad idea.

Good luck. But I do want to point out that macros may mess with your ability to use Perfect Balance efficiently. And you should leave /wait commands alone completely.

Remember that if you put skills that are on the global cooldown into a macro, you disable the command queue.
That means you lose about a quarter of a second (more or less depending on your latency) every time you use that macro.
So if you're trying to maximize your dps, it's best to use macros for off-global abilities only.

Obviously if you're just learning the class, then that quarter second here and there doesn't matter as much as actually doing your combo correctly from the right position.
So if you don't care about the command queue, I think it's really only ever going to be reliable if you leave the "starter" moves out of the macro entirely.
For example, leave bootshine and dragon kick to themselves, then build a few positional macros such as:
    Flank
    /ac "Snap Punch" <t>
    /ac "Twin Snakes" <t>

    Rear
    /ac "Demolish" <t>
    /ac "True Strike" <t>

That'll let you get rid of 2 keys while not introducing the possibility that dragon kick or bootshine will go off when they're not supposed to and ruin your combo.

best advice i could give you.DONT use maccro.you are going to screw up your dps.monk is not a class where you should use maccro.you need to be able to use any skill in any time for any situation.

why ppl want to make a really really fun class boring by making maccro that will give you a shity dps....

The only Monk macro I'd recommend is implementing the buff cooldowns into Bootshine and Dragonkick. The following works well for me:

    /ac "Bootshine" <t>
    /wait 1
    /ac "Blood for Blood" <me>
    /ac "Internal Release" <me>

    and...

    /ac "Dragon Kick" <t>
    /wait 1
    /ac "Blood for Blood" <me>
    /ac "Internal Release" <me>

there are other macros that might be useful such as

    /ac "Fists of Fire" <me>
    /ac "Fists of Earth" <me>

this switches between fists of fire and earth, it save a hotbar spot

    or recently i made one:
    /ac "Demolish" <t>
    /wait 15
    /echo <se.10>

this plays a sound effect when demolish is about to run out. This is convenient especially in movement intensive fights like titan, where you can't go on with your rotation permanently and simply applying demolish every 3rd rotation will often leave you without demolish up. You don't have to constantly check the debuff bar this way.

And i wouldn't use these skill + buff macros, because you won't be able to use your cooldowns when you need the burst damage or you could activate blood for blood in the wrong moment (titan stomps, earthern fury and so on).
