This is a great answer. My exp is different because I played a whm, blm, sch, and smn all to 50. As you can tell normally I play magic classes. Out of random curiosity I tried PUG, got it to MNK and freaking loved it. However, I know what it is like to be the WHM in a party. I think for my level in mnk (36) having a rep of 26 is pretty good! I think that at times it is because of the fact I know whm. I see the tank lose aggro to healing for the whm in my roulette and I ran after the mob and grab aggro myself. Even though it is a bit harder as a mnk than a tank to get that aggro, I do it. This is mainly because playing as a whm I had to pay careful attention to all mobs and if I ever got heal aggro (which was rare) I knew that was time to run toward the tank with the mob in tow. Not all whm know that. But it really is true, you don't know someone else's job until you walk in their shoes.

Very true plus it gives you something to do instead of starting another "I"m bored and there needs to be more content rawr" threadIf you're a tank and you level up a dps class then you get to see what it's like from the dps perspective. You learn what things tanks do that get on your nerves.
An example is if you level monk or dragoon and the tank keeps spinning the enemy around because they think moving around helps them avoid normal attacks. You run around, wishing the tank would stop moving so you can properly hit the enemy.
Experiencing the perspective from all points of view makes you a better player overall.
Also spinning does reduce the auto attack rate but I only recommend it if you're party agrees to it. Plus with all the recent tank buffs you really shouldn't need to anymore.

This... A hundred times over this!
My main has been healing since late 1.0, before I was DPS. Changing to healing allowed me to understand more about the entire strategy and approach of a party's situation. Since 2.0 launched I've also leveled a tank class to 50 and begun to understand that side of it. It's amazing how much better a party can be when all 8 of you can understand every role in the party and what's expected of your fellow players.
I like to be able to help out other people that need another DD for their relic, or a healer for their run, or whatever it is. PLD is my main which is what I focused my "lockouts" on (coil, myth) and everything else was secondary. I like to be useful

It's great for farming contents since I fit in every group.

What they said

Statement: As being one that has multiple classes, absolutely it is, especially with CT and EX primal weapons, gearing alt classes gives one something to do when their 'main' is full i90.Aside from the fact that it is a bit worth it to have a multiple class due to cross-skills, aside from that, is there any reason to have a multiple class at all in this game?
PS:
I'm not QQ-ing, I just want to hear your opinion regarding this "somewhat" screwed Armoury system which is the main attraction of this game in the first place.

Being able to fill more than one role means finding a spot in groups is easier.
