I tried this and was able to log into the game just fine. Thanks for posting this, made it so I only had to hassle around for 5 minutes fixing this problem instead of hours scratching my head.
Doesn't seem as though this is an SE problem at all. Might be useful for a moderator to sticky the solution to this being to use a google dns until U Verse gets their act together.
Mine doesn't even say it is unable to complete a version check. Mine says System Error: 2146697211
GUYS! I have found the cure. Just go in and change the DNS to the Google ones.. Which use 8.8.8.8 with alt 8.8.4.4 and Welcome back to FF14. Worked like a charm! <3
I have AT&T U-Verse I logged out 5mins ago or so wanted to log back in to put some stuff for sale that i forgot to do and couldn't log back in. In game everything was running smoothly (tho my hardware sucks) but connection wise i noticed no problems so definitely a peculiar issue involving our ISP. If I had to guess possibly a bad node somewhere.
So weird. i wonder if the problem was just people logging out. My husband has been playing all morning cuz he never logged out lol
