I think playing with PUGs is unfun for anyone. Especially in the dutyfinder when you know you'll never see the other players again, there's no space to socialize or even improve as a group.
Do you think you'd be more interested in the more difficult content if you found a group of like-minded people to play it with?
Yes and no. I personally prefer the notion of 'jump-in-and-play' gameplay and loathe pre-grouping and all that jazz. And I strongly feel that players should find those they enjoy playing with the most amongst the entire community.
So yes, a group of 'likeminded players' would improve things in the sense that, if I could find the gems of the community in the first place, content in general would be more fun.
However, in the sense of joining an essentially random and insular selection of players that simply share a single common point of interest? No. That is why I can't stand guilds; that type of arbitrary insularity and splintering of the community just reduces the chance to find the people you'd enjoy playing with the most.
Yet even if I did manage to find the players I would have the most fun with amongst the community, I'd have more fun doing laid-back stuff rather than 'challenging' myself with all the tiresome end-game stuff.
Honestly not sure what you mean here. Do you mean like 1 tank 3 dps 1 healer = 1 party ? instead of 1-2-1
Essentially.
When queue proportions go too out of whack, the game should start putting together parties with 6 DPS, 1 healer and 1 tank (for 8-mans), then scale the difficulty accordingly.
Did you ever play Guildwars2 ? I thought jump puzzles were a nice touch that anyone could enjoy.
I did.
Absolutely loved the game... that they described prior to release.
What we got was an underwhelming mess in my opinion, with mere bits of brilliance here and there.
The jumping puzzles were a great concept; most were just not executed that well (seriously... A stray brick that a Charr can not even physically fit on should not be a valid jump). The Obsidian Sanctum though... Now THAT was what the rest of the game should have taken a cue from... Well, except for the PvP part... That basically turned what would have been my favourite area in the game into a place I refused to ever return to after getting my achievement... The atmosphere, the sense of scale, and the beauty of that place though... Good stuff. The mini-dungeon in Dredgehaunt Cliffs was another amazing place.
Stuff like that, rather than more and more combat (seriously, its shoved even into treasure hunts) would be more than welcome.
