It's more a result of increased position polling in instances.
From 0.3 second position update in 2.0/2.05 to 0.1 second position update in 2.1.
Something they did based on player requests.

I'm another FiOS user which has had the lag/delay around since patch 2.1. I've contacted customer support on Square Enix's side and Verizon's side and there was no solution they could give me.
I've run tracert like everyone else and the hangup is the level3 switch in Montreal just like everyone else has claimed. It is disappointing that SE hasn't chimed in and addressed the issue. I suppose I will follow Wobbler and cancel my subscription in the next couple days if no one looks at the issue.
I just don't feel it is valid to pay a subscription to a game that is hardly playable. Sorry SE.

I've recently just switched to Fios from Time Warner this past Saturday because of the increase in speed performance. I've never had any lag issues prior to the switch with ARR. From day one of the switch to Verizon, I've been lagging on both wired and wifi. This leads me to believe that it's definitely a Verizon issue. So far, I'm not very satisfied with Fios and it hasn't even been a week.
It's not just the game lag, it's also due to the fact that the modem/router they provided has horrible wifi speeds but is fine when I'm hard wired. Also, they don't have an app for the roku??? C'mon! I guess I've been spoiled by TWC. I might just end up switching back since I've been lag free with TWC both pre and post patch 2.1.
Btw, my download and upload speed with Fios is 75/30 mbps, but I've only gotten those speed while hard wired. Still lags with ARR. I've been using battleping the past few days, but shouldn't have to rely on a 3rd party software to fix this issue.

That is odd, I have had FiOS for the past 5 years with 0 issues. My Wifi also operates at the speed it is supposed to.It's not just the game lag, it's also due to the fact that the modem/router they provided has horrible wifi speeds but is fine when I'm hard wired. Have you tried logging into your modem/router and making sure all of the settings are correct? (FiOS technicians on the other hand suck so something could be amiss there)

Ha! I remember that wireless router/modem they gave me, terrible, my connection would slow down if my wife was downloading something and hers if I was. I actually bought a Buffalo wireless router and connect through that. Never a problem since.I've recently just switched to Fios from Time Warner this past Saturday because of the increase in speed performance. I've never had any lag issues prior to the switch with ARR. Thanks for this - very helpful!
My OH plays on PC, so he is going to see if he can fix it with the hints and also do his TRs for our ISP. Me, unfortunately, on PS3. It is so bad now I can't even run a low level dung, or even fight a random beastie in open world without having no idea what is actually happening - 10 second windows of nothing, then craziness.....
Unless it gets fixed I will suspend my subsc until it does. I just cant play, and on PS3, I am limited on what I can actually do about it......

Best of luck to everyone trying to get this addressed, I have wasted almost a month of my time and have decided to cancel my sub. I may also cancel FIOS due to their response on this matter.

Been having the same problem for a few weeks, since that patch. The game has been unplayable since. No acknowledgement from Squeenix on the issue. Unsubscribed today.
Having issue w/ cable, packet loss in same spots of level3 places(Denver and montreal).
It's not just verizon FIOS... It's on SE's side and is easily proven by traceroutes.
Spanky Atrophic - Cactuar

Bumping this thread to see if anyone with Verizon has had their lag issues resolved. Just curious; I'm not even with Verizon.
