This does seem like a huge oversight on Square-enix's half. I was doing a CT run the other day with a Party Finder party and everyone, except the party leader skipped the cutscene, looked at the loot, passed on the loot and exited. Then we get a message in party chat from the leader saying he'd been forced a piece of gear because he was on the PS3 and it took him about 40 seconds just to get out of the cutscene once he'd skipped it. Really I feel the way the loot system should work with this is, if everyone leaves before the loot has been decided then timer should just carry on so the last person left in there can decide if they want it or not rather than being given it by default. Also if the timer runs out without someone choosing pass/greed/need, and everyone else has chosen "pass", then the gear, at least in CT, should just be abandoned. In the long run I think people are gonna be less annoyed about missing the piece of gear they want because they were too slow to look at the loot list than being forced a piece of gear they do not need or want and may never even use and get locked out of trying to get the loot they actually want for a week.
