Improve fund acquisition for housing

Just read a post of a FC which was scammed by one of their members and lost the money they saved up to buy a plot of land.

The fact that housing is still too expensive aside, I thought about how such things could be prevented.

How about creating some sort of bank account dedicated for housing?

The FC leader starts such an account at the housing NPC or in the FC chest and FC members can deposit gil to that account but can't take any out of it, neither can the leader.

Or members can take out the money they paid into that account but not the money of other members.
Kind of like the current FC chest bank account, but with seperated rights for each member.

If the leader buys a plot, this money is used.
If the FC decides to wait and cancels the account, the money gets refunded to the members.

Maybe there could be a plate/paque on the outside of the house listing the names of the players who donated.

I'm pretty sure that there is a permission that can be set on members to allow them to buy.

That is correct. It is under the Estate section of the Housing permissions for members. The exact setting is called, Purchase/Relinquish Land.

We used a deposit only function. I was the FC leader and only I had access to pulling the Gil out. That is my recommendation.

Before that was implemented we had a system where everyone mailed me the gil and I would screen shot the donation and send them a Moogle Mail receipt stating the amount donated and of course thanking them.

It worked out quite well and was also a great way to see who was donating and participating.

This is what we had and are now currently doing. I have no sad feelings for someone who doesn't take the time to set their rank settings correctly. Give someone an inch and they will take a yard.
