Crystal Tower Horror Stories

Spending 3 weeks (and 50+ runs) to try to get my Royal Robes and then seeing them drop for the FIRST time when I decide to solo-queue tank. Was not a happy person that day.



Partially a horror, partially a win...

Bone Dragon; my WAR goes and tabbed-out auto-runs into Dragon...6 or 8 people get locked out from the other two parties. First set of Skeletons get dealt with fine...second set not so much...4 AoEs go off. I manage to keep myself (SCH) our WHM, one DPS and both tanks alive, and there's 3 other Heals a DPS or two and another 2 tanks alive going into the last phase...
DPS gets rezed as best as possible, but eventually, due to not enough tanks, heals get killed by Eyes. I hear LBs go off as I'm being chased down and killed, MT dies...and somehow Dragon winds up dead. Still not sure how...

King Behemoth (same run). Our WHM is D/Cing in some way I have never seen before, and is dead in the lava of the previous boss (no idea why or how). My WAR decides to MT KB...despite the fact that we're down a heal (my PLD wanted the Giants...I had to tell them off for such a crazy idea...)
Successfully solo-healing the MT and your party (yes, he said after that he was just being healed by me and my Eos, no Regens or anything from any of the other heals) during that fight is not my definition of fun at all...

As a side-note: it took until half-way through the last boss for our WHM to come back...at least that one is easy to solo-heal the MT on...

CT run last week where a group pulled all skeles they could find onto one platform, our MT was SB and yelling at the healers for not keeping him up in his half crap gear, people decided that Napalms should be ignored so they could shout first to kill the main mob and then yelled the loudest as the entire raid drops to aoe dmg. Zero comets up for the first two tires of KB, Iron Giants didnt like the tanks and were running free the entire time and last but not least on Atmos, same party that was pulling all skeles onto one platform, decided we didnt need to put a shield up for his flare, twice... * Group A or derp group as I like to call them admitted to never being in CT before after the run was over, it was a full FC or something lol.

Fortunately someone had posted up the CT drinking game rules just prior to this run and most of our group decided to try it out. 6/8 finished this amazing CT run dead drunk. But at least we had good times.

I got a good chuckle out of this one..

Not my personal horror story, but from someone else I know.. rolls DRG boots or gloves.. and the body drops off last boss. ^^;

My personal horror story.. spamming CT 20 - 30 (maybe more times) the second week to get the tank body.. which I've seen a ton since then.. caster body still remains rare, I've only seen it twice so took it last week when it dropped the second time. ^^

I had two of the most terrible runs in back to back days. Yesterday, I was in an alliance where no one wanted to grab and be MT on KB. I volunteer. First pull, I tomahawk and flash on the way to the north position. Logic dictates you let the MT get one combo in before you go crazy attacking. Unfortunately, logic was not these people's strong suit. We wipe, reset. Undergeared tank calls me out in alliance chat, says he will MT. I volunteer to get giant. Start pulling giant and another idiot tank uses provoke to take giant from me. MT can't stay alive because he's like i60 and the wheels fall off. Round three. I volunteer to MT and things are going well. We live through two meteors and KB is at low health. Inexplicably, I stop getting heals, we wipe. At that point, we put up a vote to disband,which gets rejected. People start leaving anyways. I luck out and don't get the 30 minute lockout. Next run was smooth as butter.

Haven't gotten to get my feet to drop, so I try farming again this morning. Total derpfest 2.0. Groups wipe on the trash rooms at the beginning. We struggle and wipe on Atomos. Twice. I am not joking. I gladly took my 30 minute penalty. Normally, I don't MT Behemoth unless no one else volunteers because I don't enjoy the tank ego contest. I grab my tower, click it, throw a combo at an enemy, rinse and repeat. I don't know if this is karma trying to balance things out because my earlier CT runs were smooth.

Overall, my CT experience had been good. It's a fun raid that is not too difficult and drops good gear. The comic relief in chat is an extra bonus.

I made a Party Finder group and closed off recruitment to Bards as I only needed the Ballad Sarouel to complete my Ballad set and did not want to compete for loot. We eventually got to 7/8 and sat there for about 15 minutes before I decided I'd switch to PLD so long as everyone in the group agreed to let me take the Sarouel with Greed if they dropped. Everyone agreed including the additional DPS that joined after I changed to PLD. We go through the Labyrinth with Ballad Boots and Ballad Corselet dropping and no one taking them. We beat Acheron and much to my surprise, after the other two Ballad pieces dropped, Ballad Sarouel drop. I get a couple congratulatory statements and one "good luck". I say "I sure hope everyone follows through on what we all agreed upon." and right as I said that I see someone else rolled an 88 to my 54. They immediately exited and logged off. The worst part is that I checked their Lodestone profile and they do not even have ARC unlocked... They don't have ARC, they damn sure don't have BRD and they passed on the Ballad Boots and Ballad Corselet which they would've gotten because everyone else passed...

Two days ago, i had a group i was in with 7 FC members that decided it would be a good idea on Behemoth to put on Snowman suits and run around in circles placing every comet on the Iron Giants so we'd get meteor'ed to hell everytime it went off. After 6 wipes they had a good laugh in alliance chat and left. They got replaced and we killed it and moved on. I really hate when stuff like this happens but i guess its the nature of the beast.

ive ran CT about 20 times, trying to get the healer boots. literally every single run ive done has been nothing but fuma and crimson gear, i went 2 weeks without even lotting in ct for the hopes that i might get lucky. nope still havent

This is my second week runing the CT and i still cant get my Monk pants its the last piece im missing and the boss only drops drg pants or the magician hat !

Last night.

Bone Dragon....nobody wants to MT, nobody is tanking skeletons.
King Behemoth...nobody wants to MT, somehow we can manage 6 tanks on 4 towers...right?
Acheron...still.....nobody wants to MT....whats wrong with this picture?

Usually tanks are eager to measure eachother's dick sizes and be MT, provoking mid fight and pissing other tanks off.....but last night they were all too nervous or something?

Also, another run, tank in full allagan...just walked around the whole dungeon. Apparently too entitled to actually participate....what the heck were they even doing there?
