Adding crests to items

As a part of the materia system it would be neat if we could add crests to shields, shirts and breastplates. By crests I mean the city crests, or perhaps a guild emblem. I realize it would make additional work when creating item graphics, but it would add a way to make an item more unique than choosing between three or four colors when crafting, and it would really personalize an item for the player.

Sorry if this idea has already been posted before.

Edit: We should be able to add runic designs to sword blades as well. This could be open to all crafts with a goldsmith adding gold inlay to a blacksmiths work, or a culinarian adding the Gridania crest to a wedding cake.

I would settle for adding colgates.

Seriously though good idea, especially if crests and other ornamentation can be added after-market.

Very cool idea. If the crest was created "after-market" i could see a whole new DOH class, like a scribe or engraver etc.

This would be nice if connected to signatures...

If in FFXI the special crystal would add your name, here they could add a similar set of items that not only add signature but also some personal customizations in certain models, like kite shields, jackets' back, shirts' back, etc.

Could even let the player upload the image...if not mistaken GTA online allow you to uplad an 80x80 image to use as car decal, cloth decoration, etc.

If no other way left, they could allow us to use our lodestone avatar (when we become able to upload a personalized one) this way ^^

Dev post said that it's not feasible at the moment since it would add too much server strain.

If I am remembering correctly they did say that they wanted to add signatures, but that it would be some time before it would happen.
