I was invited same way.

But it turned out OK. I got FC buffs, new chat, some people that can help me that I can help. Inactive people are dismissed, new are invited. So FC population is filtered that way.

This method is not acceptable for so-called Hardcore FC-s, but it is fine for casual or social FC-s without that high-end goals (though there are indeed maybe problems with high-end goals for members in there).

Desperate FCs who advertise to random people are like door-to-door religion preachers. "Would you like to be a Jenova's Witness? Be a part our family!" Nothing screams desperate and/or crazy than someone I've never met or talked to suddenly prestering me to join their "family".

I knew I wasn't the only one annoyed by those, I had gotten numerous FC invites but rejected them for the same reason for awhile, I joined the one I'm in now because the FC leader actually took time to talk do some stuff together and then invite me once he actually knew that we would get along and that I actually speak english. Most if not all of the members since are cool to talk to, even if the FC is rather small (Quality over Quantity ).
Small anecdote to show the opposite, some Japanese FC (or at least I think they were japanese) sent me an invite once and I tried to talk to the person inviting me but all I got in return was a bunch of Japanese. :/

Some people will do it just to get enough bodies to start the FC because it's only two or three core friends that want FC perks without needing to join a bigger one themselves.

I've never seen a zerg guild succeed at anything.

There was on FC on Excalibur that was notoriously bad at this. Ultima Weapon. I swear I would receive 10-15 blind invites a day from them during the 2-3 week period I was going without a FC.

I used to get random FC invites nearly every time I went back to town while I was still trying to play solo.

In that case you can join this blind invite , say few "Good Words" to they leaders in FC chat lmao , and then disband
