i am returning to online final fantasy. i played xi. it took a few months but i am starting to see the light. what xiv does it is it adds another layer to every system available in xi. in some ways xiv mixes things up, but the game is essentially a multiplication of what made xi so enjoyable (for me at least). honestly, only a few things need to be added at this point, and a few minor aspects trimmed off.

if jobs are added, then the armory system is the multiplication of what skills were in XI. instead of just having a sword skill, you have a gladiator class that specializes in all things sword. so in this way jobs make tons of sense. they give players a more refined class to sink all their armory skills into. this system sounds like magic to me! Nothing needs to be removed. Jobs/Subjobs and the addition of more armory classes etc. would be awesome. this is really the beauty of the mechanic. It can go anywhere. For instance, jumping could be introduced as a skill used by a 'martial artist' armory skill & it would feeds high dex/evasion type JOBS like monk, thief, ninja etc. certain skills can be used for puzzles as well. Since all armory skills are usable across the board, this would make the game so freaking amazing!

What i really want to suggest pertains to battle regimes. the perfect thing to do is to let parties work out battle regimes in passive mode. in addition to this, multiple battle regimes should be set prior to combat. IN ADDITION to this, the battle regimes should be completely democratic among party members so that during combat each player selects a preferred battle regime and all members effectively vote on regimes predetermined outside of combat. turn the red/blue dot on the left into a party play mob gang-rape beat down macro poll and BAM everyone is happy. And its just one button =p
