    FFXI-XIV Combo Subscription

It would be pretty neat if there was some sort of combo subscription deal you could do so that you could have access to both FFXI and FFXIV for a dollar or two extra per month. Even though abyssea totally ruined XI for the most part it's still a good game, and it'd give a lot of people something to do while waiting for Coil to reset / myth tomes to reset since this game is pretty abysmal when it comes to content.

Abyssea didn't ruin FFXI it gave it new content to do. They had nothing new released for 3 years they had to release something and abyssea was fun to level up to 99 and get new gear.

Actually it did - albeit not by design but more how it was executed. Because there was no pre-75 lockout on the content, players abused it by doing 'cleave' pts and thus the game ended up with a whole generation of players who had been virtually power-levelled from 30 through to 99 with absolutely zero knowledge on how to play their jobs/role in a party (gee, doesn't that sound familiar?).

Even SE themselves admitted the expansion was 'a mistake' (why else did they virtually abandon any more content for Abyssea and concentrated on the Adoulin expansion instead?). It was an experiment that just didn't work. But I digress...

Getting back on topic though, I don't see SE bringing in another 'get a bonus for having both a FFXI and FFXIV account active' - they tried that once before at 1.0's launch (both games got beneifts for having accounts for both games active - reduced FFXI fees and extra storage space via the Mog Sack for FFXI, and the Hermes Shoes item for FFXIV 1.0 - and it didn't really bring in many FFXI players to XIV, so it's unlikely they'll be willing to make such a gamble again.
