Please, for the love of the Twelve, do NOT implement this! Making players' item level public is what led to the elitism of a World of Warcraft addon called Gearscore. If ilevels are made public, suddenly there will be vote-to-kicks on anyone who comes into a WP run and is too low. And when addons become allowed in this game (which we have been told are eventually coming), it will only get worse.

The game already has gear checks set up and item level requirements in the duty finder. If someone really wants to puzzle out your gear, they can do it. But don't make it easy enough to see your ilevel at a glance.

^ Basically that. It was one of the things I hated the most in WoW, inviting and checking peoples gear score and then kicking them if they thought it was too low for heroics, or having someone else join and asking to boot the lower ilvl'd player because they know/have a friend with a better ilvl. It wasn't really new player friendly, especially the ones that kind of solo'd their way to max level. Just use PF if you're looking for a specific Ilvl.

There is enough elitism as it is. Implementing such a feature would breed more.

Also there is a lot of gear that has a Lower ilvl score than others, yet is better in any way. Anytime you use a piece of gear that covers more than one slot, the stupid ilvl system calculates the empty slot as level 0, ruining it completely.

Also, i could put on my Myth tanking accessories on Bard and be 7 levels higher as far as ilvl go, but be completely useless. The ilvl system was dumb to begin with and had no place in FFXIV, it only breeds elitism.
