And what situation with tanks on your server?

Greetings. I play on Sargatanas ans we have here very bad situation with tanks- PF always in need of tanks. And not only that- that few tanks not skilled and we have in common just 2-3 good tanks. And what situation on your server?

During the conversation below the main decision was recovered- different good skilled players (and tanks too) would have more strong wish to come to PArty Finder as the main class they best play, if the game have a function of "lot/pass system set up for premade groups so then we could say I am lotting X item and I will tank (heal, dps) and its my best job" (Zumi words)

Excalibur here. From the few times I have needed to use the party finder it didn't take too long to get tanks. There aren't and abundance of them, but it didn't take an unreasonable amount of time to find some.

This is a lousy catty reply, yet still good advice. I have a pld, brd, whm, and soon a smn at cap. Mnk is next. I think it makes you a better player to have a better idea what is going on with all roles in this game.

Also, it helps to be able to switch jobs sometimes based on the need of the run.

If it's anything like it is on our server the reason maybe be something like this

Player Finder

LF ILVL 80+
LF Experience players only. Know the fight.
Must have mumble, 3 forms of ID, and come to Revenant's Toll for full cavity search.
3 derps and you're kicked no hard feelings.

So yeah, doesn't really promote new or inexperience players to join.

Gotta agree. Although it won't help right away when you get to 50. You still have to gear your character. For example, my character in full Darklight still isn't welcomed in most Extreme primal parties due to the i80+ requirement. But eh, I'm still happy to be able to tank where I can.

I'd love to try tanking some of the harder stuff, but sitting at ilv76, despite that being good enough to even do Ifrit EX if the healers are good (And I have won as a tank on duty finder; In fact, Ifrit EX Duty Finder is surprinsingly good, guess Titan EX really works as a filter for unskilled players.), I have to send tells asking for a chance to basically any party above Ultima (hard) and feel pressured as hell because I know any minimal mistake will get me kicked, but only after someone first snickers about how inviting a "badly geared" tank was a mistake on the first place. That also prevents me from getting decent tanking experience on fights that would prevent said mistake, so I guess I just end up forever being one of the "bad tanks" you mentioned.

This is basically me, I just got my Paladin to 50 and am at about i74. Still, I can tank all the HM primals and dungeons if somebody is in need of a tank. Next to get a healer to 50!

Right on. I play as PLD (L45 currently) and it is the most thankless and most stressful role in the game if you're a conscientious person and do NOT want to be the "bad tank". No role takes as much heat, blame, and hate as the tank if they are perceived as not being a Perfect Paragon of the Archetype.

Each time a new "must complete to advance" Duty presents itself (Howling Eye is next for me) I sweat steel going over the "game film" on YT to prepare, and cringing when I finally queue up in DF, praying "Please don't let me F it up..."

Being the Tank... it's just not Fun. Not until the end of a run, when you've done your job, and then you experience an emotional Crowning Moment of Awesome high...

...but it doesn't last, and then you're back to constant utterance of the Prayer to Avoid Positive Vertical-Vector Fornication...
