If people played an MMO like that it would be an endless chain of 7 people knowing what they are doing and 1 guy holding the group back and having to explain it to them. Eventually that 1 guy would know what he's doing and someone would leave and someone new would pop up. There will always be at least 1 person in a group in a day that doesn't know what they are doing. In fact it's more often that you have 6 people who know what they are doing and 2 completely new people and you never get a party with 8 people that know what they are doing.

As such, from the point of view of someone who knows what they are doing, they are being held back, and their time is being wasted.

However, I believe that to be context. If I join a duty finder, I expect to have new people, and I'm cool with it. But if I'm forming a BCB group and it clearly says "Experienced people only", you better be good enough to wing it from some youtube videos, if not I'll end up having to kick you to bring in someone else.

I feel new players should make an effort to form their own groups with more new people and learn it together, like the rest of us did before the videos were made, not get carried by 7 people who have it on farm.

This isn't a single player game, it's not mario. In mario you played by yourself.

I think learning a fight without a video is the way to go to, but I don't inconvenience random people and do it that way. I found a static that was as new as I was and we wiped 100's of times until we figured it out and cleared it. We even ended up with our own strats not in the videos. People run with us and their like "WTF, you do this so complicated", but it doesn't matter because complicated is just how we memorized it, and it works, so we keep doing it that way.

Now when 2.1 came out, I DF'ed stuff knowing nothing, but so was everyone else, there were no videos yet. But in the first week I had done everything except titan em and ifrit.

My main point is, people have the right to request experience from people. If you don't like it, don't run with them. If it's the only group in the party finder, QQ. Take the time to get experience on your own with like minded people. This is an Online Game, we all need to get along. Respect is the path to a good community, Even if it's one sided.

Not to single you yourself out, as I did read the rest of your post and understand it doesn't represent your view entire, but this general response is a problem in itself. Helping someone learn something should never ever be considered a waste of time.

This is a different generation of MMO gamers, they're the types that will hop from an MMO to the next in a heart beat. It's not like FFXI era where people would teach a new healer or tank or DD the fight no problem, or even as far back as UO. This is the time where people's time is so "precious" everything has to be handed to them and nothing can take "an hour or more or it's too long."

Teaching someone shouldn't be considered a waste of time, but at times..people who know nothing tend to queue for fights above their caliber the second they get the chance to.

While you found some random person that helped you, it was not end game fights. It was more that they gave points on how to be better at the job/class, where to go next to level and things like that. All "hard" fights where handled by your LS. And your LS got something out of teaching you, random person really don't. So while it's nice if they help with things, a player really shouldn't expect it from people they randomly get assigned with.

The problem with this game is that there is no real need to be in a community. So instead of going in with your LS/friends, you go with 3-7-23 random people that don't really give a damn about you. They just want to complete the content.
