My ISP (AT&T UVerse) and SE customer support have both told me they can do nothing about the constant lag I have had while playing this game after patch 2.1. I had very few issues with lag before this. I have no issues with any other internet related thing in my house. I can play any other game online on my PS3 without an issue. The fact that neither side wants to accept blame is atrocious. At least SE support have been very helpful with troubleshooting.
The following is a wall of text:
- Reset the router (Duh)
- I've always had a wired connection (also duh) and the cable is less than 6 feet long
- Had an ISP technician out, he worked on some lines and then "opened up the ports for the game"
- I use "" because he opened the ports on his device, not my PS3, so after much research and help from SE support I opened the ports on my own
- ISP tech gives me a new router. 2Wire 3801HGV...it's a router and modem in one.
- I then temporarily put my PS3 into "DMZ mode" completely bypassing the firewall
- Renewed my IP address (unplugging the router for 40 minutes)
- Flushed DNS
- Uninstalled and reinstalled the game, deleting every file and cookie and cache along the way
- Took my PS3 over to a friend's house (also UVerse, basically everyone I know has UVerse around here and none of them play games online) and had the same issues. SE suggested this.
- Wrote a thread in this forum
I plan on posting this on every relevant forum (reddit, AT&T, etc) until I either get a definitive answer, get banned from all the forums, or the end of my monthly plan with this game comes up and I deactivate my account. I don't plan on posting my conversations with either side's tech support because it was all over the phone/email/chat and I'd probably be accused of altering it anyway.
I would love to switch to a different ISP at this point considering how poor the customer service has been with AT&T UVerse...but there's that contract thing. Blargh.
