The Don'ts of Duty Finder?

I have never had issues getting into df with my pet out while in a party. Are you sure you're fried was on the right class when signing up? Although it shouldn't let you sign up at all if that was the case

well here is what SPECIFICALLY happened to lead me to believe the pet may or may not have blocked her from being added to the same party as me in duty finder.
We were questing and DF (Duty Finder) suddenly popped up asking to commence. The very second it popped up, it said a potential member rejected. Then about five seconds later it popped up again and waited for me to hit commence. I hit decline because I thought she might have hit decline. She was turning in quests after all. Meanwhile my significant other a few seconds later was asked to join a DF party after I already hit cancel. We both withdrew from DF and I added our party again. It said 2/2 DPS on my end but it said 1/2 on her end. We did not change/leave the party in any way except that I had Topaz Carbuncle out. We did not change classes. So I cancelled it again thinking something was wrong. I put my pet away and then re-registered us a third time and when I did that it said 2/2 on her end as well. Hence I believed the summon may have interfered with the DF o;
So the first time was probably because I hit decline but still, it did not pop up for her asking to commence until after I declined, suggesting DF separated us sometime before then. And the second time we tried, as I said, it seemed to separate her when I had my pet out.

I believe that I know what happened, Shirana.
What happens is that you always see your role as being 1 full in that window, that comes from the client. The rest of the information comes from the server.
When the server found a party and sent invites, you both accepted but! Her acception reached the server before yours for whatever reason, so you saw her in the party (hence the 2/2), but she did not see yours (hence the 1/2).
Had you waited a little more (the server does actually work as if in heartbeats, every few moments it does a full update of many things) both would have shown 2/2.

Even if that display is a little weird, as long as you are both in the same party you will always end up in the DF together

yeah...you cannot register for a duty finder while having choco out as fighter...it messes up the party make up.

Just to hopefully add a helpful note, I always get ready with aetherflow stacks up and my chosen pet out when waiting on duty finder, even with a party, so I don't have to waste time summoning when we get in. I've never had a problem.
I don't have an explanation like the other guy, but I wouldn't worry about having a pet out messing up your party. As long as you're in the same party when you get into the duty finder, you will be put into the same party when it pops. ^^

1 Yes you can change but to accept the final confirmation you have to change back.
2 Yes you can change maps
3 Yes you can view cutscenes, but to accept the final confirmation of DF you have to of finished the cut-scene or talking (usually skipping the scene)
4 Yes you can participate in both fates and leves

You can not form a party of any kind (even with companion) as this auto withdraws you.
You can not put up a party search request, let alone join df with party search request currently active
You can actually use mounts and minions
