Notorious Monster is a special category of enemies that appear in the world. They usually appear as a part of FATE events.
Notorious Monsters tend to be plot-related, quest-based, or unique to the world. They are often much stronger versions of normal monsters and beastmen. These monsters can have their own unique appearance, and some are enormous in size. Defeating some Notorious Monsters for the first time can give a Iodestone achievement.

A lot of NMs are in FATEs now, unfortunately.

Spawn camping wasn't fun but getting gear that was unique and actually rare seem more rewarding than gear just being handed to you. Not saying it should take years to gear up but 4 weeks to get the top tier gear and quests to get full AF gear doesn't feel right.
