Say Chat (Text Bubble)

Why do you and and the others that do not want chat bubbles talk like there would not be an option to turn them off?

Better question is: Why do those who support it act like it's going to make or break the game and absolutely demand an answer from SE for their reasoning of saying no? Normally JP developers never say 'no' outright, but it's clear there's just no plans for this. It's honestly not that big of deal and it truly was this "standard" feature every MMO from 1993 - 2014 would have it.

Every single one. What SE is missing that's standard, though, is transparency settings.

Personally, I am not upset that there are currently no plans to add player chat bubbles. Honestly, I am happy with the way FFXIV:ARR is. Though, I am puzzled as to why a lot of the naysayers think that chat bubbles would be an always-on feature that Square-Enix would shove all over our faces without an option to turn it off.

Speech bubbles are ENTIRELY positive. There are no downsides.

Positives:
Allows you to focus on combat
Allows for much more immersed RP
Allows for people used to them to use them
Allows for personal, local discussion, away from the ire of everyone

Neutral:
Would have to get Anet to actually do some work in implementing them, but since they already exist for NPCs, the trouble would be entirely negligible.
People who hate them would have to waste 5-10 seconds in disabling them

That's like saying helmets are clutter and they should never show up the same way belts don't. Yet we have a toggle to show/hide head items. Do you really think a flat chat bubble with text is taking more memory space than a fully modeled helmet with textures, alpha channels and light bouncing and reflecting on it? Not to mention the shadows? None of that would affect a chat bubble. And, once ducking again, they are in game already.

And I want people to point me out in which MMO that has chat bubbles is known for their screens to be cluttered with chat boxes, or where chat boxes are a problem during raids. Or show me MMOs that had chat bubbles and had to take them out. I'll tell you which ones did that: none. You are thinking that not having chat bubbles is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.
