If you don't want to use chat bubbles you can turn them off. I'm not sure why this is so hard to understand. @.@ There's nothing wrong with implementing the feature with a toggle (which kind of goes without saying).
That's like saying helmets are clutter and they should never show up the same way belts don't. Yet we have a toggle to show/hide head items. Do you really think a flat chat bubble with text is taking more memory space than a fully modeled helmet with textures, alpha channels and light bouncing and reflecting on it? Not to mention the shadows? None of that would affect a chat bubble. And, once ducking again, they are in game already.
And I want people to point me out in which MMO that has chat bubbles is known for their screens to be cluttered with chat boxes, or where chat boxes are a problem during raids. Or show me MMOs that had chat bubbles and had to take them out. I'll tell you which ones did that: none. You are thinking that not having chat bubbles is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.
I would like chat bubbles in dungeons. too many times have i had a new person in a dungeon who is watching battle chat and not receiving any directions or instructions, and we literally cannot win because of this person. It would be great to have chat pop up on the screen so they HAVE to see it
I don't mind them and would see them and if I see there's a speech bubble, I know to look in the corner of my screen as there is a message to read if I miss it. Rather than keep looking at the corner of the screen now and again and miss a message when I am not looking at it.
You're entitled to hate them. Hate to your heart's content. I still say what I posted makes sense
If it makes everyone happy, they can have it so you can switch them off and on.

/thread here, ladies and gentleman. That's like saying helmets are clutter and they should never show up the same way belts don't. Yet we have a toggle to show/hide head items. You are a male! Congratulations!I have an idea for say chat, Could in the future make it ingame were when we talk via say chat a bubble pops above our heads when we talk, I like this idea because when someone is talking to you, You can read the chat above his or her head like in some other mmos. Just an idea is all
Also when I was in coil I asked them where should I stand for this part, The tank said over here with me. At that point I didn't know off hand and got used to another game were I would be able to look in the dungeon and see oh its that guy over there (party chat bubble) I had to look on the party list to see where he was, Now this is not a bad thing but it can help when things are going fast or you are focusing on the dungeon or so.
I agree, Like with lip sync on this game players can turn off or on.I don't mind them and would see them and if I see there's a speech bubble, I know to look in the corner of my screen as there is a message to read if I miss it. I would like chat bubbles as well, also, more toggle effects. So whiners can go whine about something else, and normal people can be happy.
I do wish they would add this feature. It doesn't even have to be a bubble - the overhead text in LotRO is really awesome too.
