The Sky is Flat! Request for a night sky with more depth.

The daytime skies in this game are more than beautiful, the clouds and lighting are amazing.

Sadly, the night sky is very one dimensional and very obvious that it just a texture. I would really love to see more variation and depth in the sky. With the DX11 update will this be possible?

Here are some comparisons from 1.0 to 2.0 skies

Most of the stars in 2.0 are the same brightness and it makes the sky look so flat!
Please post with your opinions about the two skies and what one you like better.

2.0 seems much more realistic to me, I'd be extremely lucky to see a night sky like the 1.0 pic even without light pollution. 1.0 pic seems like a telescope rendering. Granted, there aren't many clear nights where I live so I don't have a great frame of reference.

I'm assuming by 1.0 "seems like a telescope rendering" you mean the first picture, but that's 2.0 for the first one >.>

It is? Still looks like a telescope rendering. I don't really pay attention to the sky unless I'm in the shroud or Northern Thanalan. 1.0 Does seem more realistic, then.

Is there a lore reason why Northern Thanalan is always under dusk btw?

"Alot" is not a word. Allot is but it's unlikely to be what you want, try "A lot".

I really like the night sky in this game, actually. The screenshots you posted look awesome to me.

One of those looks like a night shot taken outside a town with bright lights and another looks like it was taken in a desert away from civilization so you could get a nice clear shot of the Milky Way.

Not sure what the problem is. I see stars of different brightness in both pictures.

I think it's more of the feeling like the Milky Way is merely a flat image pasted onto the sky. The night sky doesn't feel alive, unlike the clouds or the rays of sunlight.

This video shows it to be pretty dynamic. The stars aren't supposed to move, and from the image, I get the impression that there is depth. The world rotates and depending on weather, it can add different variation to the sky.

I still don't understand the problem.

I personally prefer the night sky in 2.0 to that pic of the night sky in 1.0. Sure, it's beautiful in its own way, but I'm the kind of person who looks to marvel at the stars, not the pretty light pollution. I know some people may think differently, but if my opinion matters in even the slightest, then I say the night sky should be left as-is.
