FC Housing a Ghost Town *Sad face*

Well this is sad.. The Place is a ghost town.. SE did a good job on making the houses and stuffs but it lacks something else.. like... a Marketboard.. NPC Shops (like in the Cities..) where people can actually do something besides spending a ridiculous amount of Gil just to left it and rot..

In the first place they should have thought about this. Even the Gardener NPC is sad..

anyway.. here's some screenshot of the place.. makes you wanna swim to the beach and swim till you cannot see land..

Sorry for the Being naked.. there's a beach so.... why not.. lol

There's.. this girl... who loves to fan a chair.. *lucky chair*

The problem with a feature in a game that hasn't "taken off", as in life..."first impressions count". So nobody could afford the housing, or very few, who have blown all their gill on the matchboxes they call small houses. The first impression when we saw it was "wow", which soon turned to "what?" for pricing. When something's or someone's first impression is bad, that stigma follows them for a long, long, time...if not forever. Housing has got off to a terrible start, and should never have been implemented until they had the server stability to make them affordable for EVERYone. The desire to have a guild house, let alone a personal house in FFXIV, for me, has diminished from "yes, yes, yes" ..... to a "shrug". I know our small FC will never be able to afford anything other than a small house...and they are a complete waste of money.

It amazes me how games over 15 years old, such as UO managed to have the best housing EVER, where "gasp" you could actually make chests, wardrobes, armoires and stack them where you wanted and yeah...STORE STUFF. Plus you could build exactly what you wanted on your plot with no "hook" restrictions, and it was all in the open world, not instances. This last point created some wonderful pvp experiences when people broke into your house, and lockpicked all your boxes and stole all your stuff!!! I digress. Unfortunately for this game, housing attracts a lot of people to a game, especially role players, and also "designers" who build stuff and design stuff from scratch (see aquariums in UO and Rift) for other folks, I should think they've all wandered off in quiet disgust now, and there we have lost subscriptions and a lost opportunity to gain more subs, and with the prices still being out of reach for most, unlikely to gain any more subs.

The areas are quite beautiful and must have taken a lot of time to design and made to look that way. 'Tis a shame...such a lost opportunity.

I agree with the stabilizing the game/server first.. then add new content later on.. I never played UO and Rift.. but back in DC Universe Online the housing is so much better than FFXIV/SE's implemented housing.. (I'm not saying this is it, but there's a lot of room for improvement.) DCUO housing lets you well customize it, you can do pvp (1v1) well you got to defend your house from villains/hero... you can give access to a certain person/guild you like to see the inside of the house, and it gives you a free house by default, and have a node(store) where you can buy stuffs to be melded in your gear and you can purchase a lease if you want a bigger or different house.

SE, we want a useful house.. not an expensive house where you can only turn a titan lamp on/off and sit all day..

maybe.... on update 5.1 we'll see improvements *Wink*

Funny you mention everything but actual home owners. It's more of a ghost town because most plots are empty. NPCs will never replace actual players to make a place feel alive.

I'm quite sure the OP was using sarcasm. I too feel that Housing Cost is stupid. I mean who is all this gil going to ? why do they need it ? If housing plots cost actual money i could understand them selling this on the Mog Station. But for a NPC to price shit 80 million in gil makes no sense. seriously... all this really doing is causing all FC's to withold gil from flowing back in to the in game economy. They are saving it for Housing.. Saving could take months.. so Why the hell does this even happen.
I'm sure the Art Dev. Team is really happy their hard work is being ignored for the most part.. Housing should be Free> If anything.. it makes you feel pretty crappy to be in FC that can only afford the small house > while your neighbor FC has the Freaking Huge House and taunting you. Yeah that makes everyone feel just great.

    another thing to add.

So. say alot of small FC's feel they will never be able to save up enough gil to buy a Large House.. so they decide to merge with the Biggest FC in their world.

Soon every FC does this as well... then only 1 or 2 FC's exist.

Explain to me then .. what good was it to be in a FC if everyone on the server is in the same one.. may as well not be a FC at all.

It's the Walmart syndrome. Walmart moves into small town gobbles up all the small shops .. soon everyone has to shop at Walmart.

Free company housing was and is a waste.

They needed to offer personal housing, not FC housing. More houses would be bought, there would be more use to it for vanity, and it would have accomplished exactly what SE thought FC housing was going to do.

FC housing, prices were too high, housing killed the economy because no everyone needs to save so everyone makes and gathers things but nobody buys. There is no market for furniture because again, if your FC can afford the house, they can craft their own furniture.

And NOW when they do personal housing, will it be seperate zones? so you can't even have your own house in the same area as FC? Again, what SE did right now was create personal housing market only for FC's, which is a waste.

It really would be nice if they had more of the amenities that are in town, like a market board and a mender npc. Then i could i actually stay in the housing zone instead of running back and forth to town.

its called a gil sink. Just like repairing your armor its ment to take gil out of the server so you dont have inflation.
