Meh, I'm just not a fan of the Fairy models. Maybe just wishfull thinking.
Egis as job ability for leveling up is an awful idea because of how mutually exclusive the are and how limited the scope of their utility is.
Normally the idea of giving one class an extra ability without giving the same consideration to others would be a big red flag, but given how simply by its nature Summon IV would either be useless or automatically invalidate Summon I/II/III they could get away with throwing egis in out of expansion. Would be more lore friendly too.
Yes, Bard songs are also mutually exclusive, but they're also designed to be more dynamic in their usage ( i.e. you turn different ones on and off on the fly depending on the situation) while egis have no such usability (due to prohibitive cast times and completely overlapping functionality)... the exception there being the archer song (because it's useless in any meaningful content).

/prays for summoner/egi system rework ; ;
We didn't get the Egis as we leveled up, we gained them through our job class quests alongside of our more used abilities, (tri-disaster, Fester etc). I would assume SE would continue this trend when the cap gets raised by adding in more job quests to gain more abilities, such as the ability to summon Leviathan.
I want Leviathan as an Egi just as much as everyone else here, but I'd rather see adjustments to our current Egi first for rather obvious reasons.
It should be a mount that summoners can ride.

I would like to see a pure debuffing pet personally. Slow is sadly SO VERY UNDERUTILIZED its sad, esp. on the more potent slowing effects such as feint and haymaker. Weaker slows like shadow flare we see often though, its a basic DOT as well.

I'd be happy with reskins and letting me use whichever egi I prefer at the time, with the exception of titan who has a different purpose.
YoshiP said no new egis til a level cap increase. He also said there would be a level cap increase when he adds new classes/jobs and that at least one will be released BEFORE the first expansion so that would imply we'll see level 55 and a new egi before 3.0. Considering that Shiva and Ramuh will be released in 2.3 though... we could get any of those as our next egi. Ramuh's egi model was found in the client by .dat miners which tells me Ramuh is the most likely candidate for our next egi. He looks awesome btw!
I'm in agreement that for Leviathan to be viable we're going to need a complete rework of the current egis though.
Ifrit needs a gap closer and a more powerful auto-attack (risk vs reward dictates melee should always do more damage than range due to risk of death and movement requirements but currently ifrit does less than garuda due to his animation lock), he also needs a new 4th skill that interacts with the summoner in a way that contagion does.
Leviathan would make the most sense as an AOE pet as several others have suggested. An AOE auto-attack that is slightly weaker than Ifrit's or Garuda's but does considerably more in total against multiple targets. The suggestion made by someone else to have his 4th skill buff bane's number of affected targets is really great actually!
