Leviathan-Egi: What's its role going to be...?

(This is all hypothetical, just me rambling...)
With patch 2.2's announcement, one of the few tidbits SE provided for us was the awakening of a new Primal, Leviathan.
The idea of a new primal has brought speculation about the possibility of a new toy for Summoners to play with, the Leviathan-Egi.
My question is, what role could it possible play?
I mean, Garuda is a Summoners main offensive tool, while Titan is a tank, even Ifrit has its ability to annoy mages in PvP with its physical attacks. Would it just be another upgrade for the Garuda/Emerald line? Or maybe a replacement for Ifrit as the new physical egi? Would it be something unique? Or will they never release another egi and I'm just wasting my time?
What's everyone's thoughts on the subject?

the idea is pretty cool. Levi could be an AoE pet...

- randomly encase up to 3 enemies in a water prison(much like the Eft in Brayflox) would cause DoT and Bind for 12 secs.
- Have a Tsunami wash over all enemies within 18 yalms of target. Causes stun for 3 seconds.
- Acid Rain- increases damage dealt to enemies by 15% for 20 seconds
- Its basic attack could shoot water stream out of his mouth.

I could be wrong, but didn't they say there wouldn't be any new egis until an expansion at least? I wish we could get them sooner, but i haven't heard anything yet. I'd love more variety, if only for the sake of having something else out instead of garuda. :\

I believe they said there wouldn't be any new Egi to play with until a level cap increase.

Actually this is kinda my dream. Levi would be a weaker attacker but provide party buff

Ramuh would be weaker but provide enfeeblements

and shiva would be a frontline AoE attack for lots of trash in dungeons

For this to work though, ifrit needs an overhaul, the poor sod

I personally doubt they will introduce a buff or even debuff egi. I mean the new egis might have some debuffs but it wont be the focus. I don't think we will see a Buffer Egi because that is stepping on the SCHs toes. If they gave us a new fairy however that could actually accomplish something that we would use in certain situations over Eos or Selene then by all means I will be ok with a buffer pet for SMN. But even if they do that I simply don't see many SMNs using anything that would lower their DPS, as well as I don't see others allowing(by allowing I mean not saying anything like "Get out your DPS pet) it.

Whatever Leviathan-Egi does (assuming we do get it), it will probably collect dust on the shelf, dwarfed by the shadow of Garuda-Egi's Contagion, and that makes me sad.

If they plan on adding any new Egi's, they need to rework the entire Egi system. Right now there's no point using anything other than Garuda for end-game content. IF they add Levi, are people going to bother using it if it means lowering damage? Even if it uses party buffs, we have Bard for that already. If it AoE's, the AoE's will be weaker against single target opponents, which is what end-game content is mostly. If it uses debuffs, every end-game boss will just be immune to it like everything else...

The only way to make Levi used is to make it deal more damage than Garuda, which just turns Garuda into another Ifrit. I've seen many people being kicked for using Ifrit instead of Garuda in DPS check dungeons.

Right now, Summoner's aren't a pet class. They're a DoT class with a fancy minion. It really needs re-done.
