This kind of behavior is evident on every server in every online game. Not just MMOs, but every single game that has multi-player.

It's society. Kids, and even adults, want things right freaking now. They want perfect results on the first try and if you should fail to meet up to their expectations then you fail as a human being.

I'm scared of entering a dungeon the first time. Sure I watch videos, even though mind you I shouldn't have to. Ridiculous people actually bully you into doing that.

I haven't entered Garuda Extreme yet. I'm just too scared of people. I am absolutely sure there's some move I won't dodge. Then the verbal abuse starts.

I did the Crystal Tower thing once. It was horrible. Not the dungeon that is. The people.

I dared to enter Bahamut's Coil once. I didn't do well, was yelled at. Never going to enter it again.

I wish someone was nice.. even once. Real life is horrible enough.. why do I pay for a game to get insulted? Grow a thicker skin you say maybe? Been bullied enough in my life to just not make that possible. Thought I could escape it here. Maybe I can't.
    1. Why would you not watch a video on the mechanics so you know what's going on? When you enter an instance with seven other people you should know the mechanics, if you don't you shouldn't enter. You shouldn't rely on 7 other people to carry you while you run around clueless. You don't want people to yell at you? Watch a video.

Sounds like you should be playing a console game if you can't handle dealing with the community be it good or bad.

It doesn't take long for you to google the instance you are about to enter and get a general grasp of the dungeon, how to videos are there for everyone's benefit. Check out mrhappy1227 youtube channel or sheepheadcg - both of them are great ffxiv guide contributers. You should be expected to know the fight before you enter it. There is a wealth of knowledge at your finger tips, take advantage of it and play to the best of your ability.

I get nervous, but that's why I research the dungeon/fight beforehand.

This right here is the answer. I was nervous to do quarn as a tank as I heard it was difficult so I watched a video, learned the mechanics and we got to the final boss before we wiped. Regrouped talked about it and beat the boss.

I'm the same way. I can get so nervous about an encounter that I psych myself out. I'm pretty sure my raid leader wanted to strangle me a few times when my WoW guild was progressing on Heroic Lei Shen. Watching videos really helps. And lucky, there are plenty of videos out there to teach you everything you need to know about every fight in the game (unlike my situation on Lei Shen xD).

I have never been nervous about entering dungeons.

Why? Because I don't give a one flying fig about what random people on the internet of all places think of me.

If they want to rage at me, well I'll most likly already have been ignoring them anyway in favor of whatever is going on in my LS chat box. it's how I made it out of the cesspit of a community FFXI was as well.

This is the biggest cop out ever. There were no videos when fights were initially beaten. I beat every dungeon throughout the main story without ever having to look up anything. There's nothing wrong with a little trial and error.

And now I'll post my hypocritic comment that yes - if I'm not at the forefront of completing content (which I'm not) that I'll sometimes watch a video. I didn't watch videos on Garuda or Titan Ex. I watched some for Coil because it was almost two months after it came out that I ever stepped foot in there.

I think all I'm trying to say is watching videos shouldn't be mandatory because there were no videos when people were originally completing content. If you're lagging behind it can be incredibly helpful though. I just prefer to try to figure things out on my own when I can. If I get stuck on something that's when I tend to reference a walkthrough or video.

This game has some of the rudest people I've ever encountered in an MMO, by far.

Primal HM groups are scary with how fast snide remarks and outright insults fly if someone dies just once. Dying repeatedly is one thing, dying once or twice is being human, and coping with the stupid lag created by the way they've set up the game servers.

PUG's for CT and Coil can be even worse.

I guess it must be nice to be one of those special people who never failed once in their life and walked into every raid in game knowing how to ace it while others needed time to learn.

Find some friends, stick with them, and let the elitist asshats grind until they've got nothing left to grind for and pray they go elsewhere out of boredom imho.

Really I can relate, I truly can as someone with social anxiety in terms of the difficulty of simply dismissing someone or their words ... yet, at the end of the day you have to ask yourself two fairly important questions.

--Should I care of the criticism dealt by some random person over the internet?
**Does this person's behavior deserve to be 'rewarded' by permitting them to get away with it?

Jerks will always exist in both MMO's and real life. They're pretty hard to avoid, virtually impossible infact... You just need to do your best to ignore and weed through them when you can, and to remember that their views / opinions simply "don't matter". While this is easier said than done, keep in mind that those being quiet in parties are also probably doing their best to ignore the offensive player(s) too. [it takes serious effort and guts to speak up against or to argue with someone over the abuse of others]

*While it'd be nice if people stood up for their fellow players, please remember that the views of the vocal minority do not necessarily reflect that of everyone. It's very easy to lose faith in humanity as a whole in these games by focusing on the vocal few, yet if you politely respond to their behavior telling them that it's uncalled for / that you don't appreciate it ... you'll be surprised at how many people are out there who'll take up your side. (as also indicated on these forums)

-If someone brings out verbal insults, by all means you can (*and should*) vote to kick them as others have suggested, and with absolutely NO GUILT for doing so. Vote kick reason -- harassment, which this clearly is. There's plenty of ways to tell someone that they're not playing their best and or that they need to improve in a --polite-- manner without resorting to slander.

(aka calling them a noob, trash, worthless, etc, is not constructive at all)

If you're in an instance like the HM or Extreme primals during prime time, where instance reservation is common, you can also leave the party with the knowledge that they will have to queue-again. **Especially if they're a DPS** By all means don't take it if someone insults you, make them wait and re-queue, just like you'll have to (if the vote to kick doesn't pass).

Thanks for all the nice comments, people.

I did also read all the server change offers but I do run a FC of my own so I am committed to Goblin, hehe. It's a social one and stuff, trying to find like-minded people. Unsurprisingly it doesn't get very many members but the ones we have are quite worth keeping. We even bought a house together. ^.^

Anyhooo I feel better now and I spose I just have to try to chillax tho that's never easy with social anxieties. :P
