Is anyone else scared of dungeons or trying to progress?

Its worse if you're a new tank trying to learn everything. Not only do you have to know every dungeon perfectly the moment you hit 50, you have to be able to speed run them all too. Combine that and the shitty connection issues this game has and it can be pretty stressful.

I'm terrified of the extreme modes. Even though I managed to find an FC that all played in 11 I'm still scared of being told that I'm the weak link. It also doesn't help that they drag me through areas like Coil long before I have the gear necessary. We only have two scholars and we need the other to tank.

I'm just glad that they are willing to work around my lack of gear by having me heal our pld since he has better mitigation than our warrior. My whm partner has the bigger heals and is better suited for the time being to deal with the warrior's yoyoing hp.

As for Crystal Tower...I haven't seen that level of foolishness and elitism since the battlegrounds of WoW. You even have all of the same stereotype. The guy that knows everything and demands everyone bow downs before his greatness and follow his orders, the guy that offers nothing constructive and just insults people (usually ends up being the same person as the first), the people who have no clue how to even play the game, and finally the guy that just wants to pad his dps meter and completely ignores fight mechanics.

It reminds me of why I quit WoW in the first place.

Why would you ever let the actions of others prevent you from experiencing content in a product you purchased? That is absolutely absurd. Maybe you need to grow thicker skin if you'd like to stay on the internet. Make some friends, this is an MMO after all.

Yes, you should be kind, and others should too. But nobody should be so naive to think that everybody in the world is going to be kind to you, in the virtual world or real world. Learning how to deal with people is part of life, and sooner or later you'll have to face your demons by confronting and eventually working with people that you do not get along with.

It doesn't entirely address the issue, but if you're having trouble accomplishing some of the harder content within your FC you might want to look for another one that is open to taking inexperienced players. Grouping with random people is going to create an environment to where you may never group with those people again and they'll just act however they feel like. At least in a FC with like minded people you'll be surrounded by people you'll want to be around and can get things done with.

Sounds like my friend, we just berate him until he finally joins us in coil. We are all 1 slot off from iLvl90 with alts the same iLvl as his main.

Most of us have the mindset as its just a game and who cares if people see you fail. Only way to learn the fight is to get in it and try. Don't let it stop your progression.

I did the Crystal Tower thing once. It was horrible. Not the dungeon that is. The people.

This problem is actually related to how drops in the coil work paired with the fact that you can only ever form one third of the group needed to enter.

Randomly generated loot with a once a week lockout means that when people want a specific item they no longer run the content for the content's sake but plow through it until they get the piece they want. Their only concern is efficiency.

Paired with the fact that you could potentially be running this dungeon with 23 strangers most people who fall into the above category stop seeing their compatriots as people but rather as faceless npcs who either know what they are doing or don't.

All wrapped up in a game in which the only forms of communication directly clash with actually playing the game. Basically this game goes out of its way to distill the absolute worst aspects of humanity and then forces you to deal with it for about an hour at a time.

I know your feels OP. I don't have it as much now but I can tell you a story.

Once upon a time there was a tank, who was clad in darklight gear rearing to go in WP. He had the attention span of a humming bird and wanted the run to be as fast and as speedy as possible. We made our way through the dungeon that is wanders palace with ease, and this was pleasing to the tank. Until we reached King Tonberry. "None shall pass!" Said the Tonberry of high royalty, as he summoned his brethren. Exactly the bard in our group said.."I shall handle the additional enemies, with my high accuracy and damage they shall die quickly!" I the healer agreed, so too did the monk nod to the Bard. But the tank? Well...

"No the White Mage shall do it!" Said the tank. Shocked by this I replied..
"I've never done duh before I don't think I can han--"(internally I was not expecting this..)
He interrupted me with. "DO IT NOW" while stomping his heels. "If I can do it on my WHM you can too!"
The Monk scoffed, and proceeded to ask the tank if he was dropped on his head.

But I gave into to his hunger for instant gratification. We tried it his way and he ended up dying. He then proceeded to froth at the mouth and said nothing since he dropped. The bard to the helms on the adds and the run ended smoothly. I have not seen that humming bird tank since. It did upset me, but what I want you to know OP is that we cannot let people ruin what we enjoy.. Or to quote the movie the other guys.. "if you start hiding your shit from the world eventually the world comes to your door!" And "I'm a peacock you gotta let me fly!" I urge you to please don't let these types ruin your fun keep pushing on. If I were there we could go do dtuff together but we're "worlds" apart. Best of luck !

I've tried to avoid some content for similar reasons and currently elitism is the worst of the bunch. Monday I finally ran through coil's tiers 1 and 2. We wiped a few times in tier 1 but we cleared it and now I think I have a static for those tiers. As for the silliness that you can get in CT, well I can get over that because I have a high tolerance for stupidity. As for extreams, well, DF will half expect you to know what you're doing and the other half doesn't know what to do and will not say. Server side is all elites looking for members with 80 IL and experience.
For DR stuff, I queue as Heal or Tank so if there is a bad DPS doing stupid pulling, well I just turned stupid and forgot how to tank the mob you pull cause this one is marked [1]. Hell one time in Copperbell we had a very rushy archer that jumped into the slime boss before we I as the tank arrived since had to run from the last shortcut cause I died from a sloppy pull he made. Well we watched him die cause he was in a rush and wouldn't listen to our advice or how I marked my targets. Then as he lay there we proceeded to 3 Man the slime. Hope he was watching cause he would have learned the mechanics of the fight. Then we left him there since using return will be just as fast as raising plus our heal didn't have quickcast, and proceeded on with the dungeon and after 5 minutes he still lay there, we promptly vote kicked him for being AFK. Mistakes can and will be learned from, but stupidity is just stupidity.

I'm a healer so I get the most abuse aside from the tank... If someone abuses you report and move on that about all you can do... I nicely explain to people that they need to stop blaming me the healer because if they dodged the aoe's then I wouldn't need to heal them and I could concentrate on keeping the tank alive... Personally I take things with a grain of salt nut I understand that some people aren't like that... People need to remember its a game made for enjoyment not for people to point out flaws, I'm glad my servers nice... Well most of the time...
